CTV is now a default part of most Digital Media Plans. This means videos that were being viewed on a Mobile device, are being cast on large CTV screens. Question for @marketers and @creative agencies: how good does a typical Digital Video look on a large TV screen? 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹+ 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗧𝗧 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺: a milestone in the TV landscape Following some controversy about its C8 channel, CANAL+ Group has announced it will remove its four pay-tv channels from the French digital terrestrial television (TNT) platform: highlighting a mismatch between costs and viewership: - Viewership: 70,000 monthly viewers were watching these channels via DTT. - Costs: The distribution costs for Canal+ on TNT were estimated between €20-30 million annually. While these channels will be replaced by other offerings, two points are worth highlighting: 𝟭. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹+’𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. It underscores Canal+’s transformation from a traditional broadcaster into a streaming platform. Something we have heard other broadcasters mentioning, Canal+ is actively doing 💪 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗧𝗧 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. Media agency Magna’s latest report shows national TV ad revenue down slightly, but digital formats like AVOD and CTV are experiencing significant growth. For 2024, while national TV will see a minor decline, digital media continues to shine, with strong gains in AVOD and CTV. Local TV will get a boost from major events, and overall ad revenues are set to rise significantly, thanks to the upcoming elections and the Paris Olympics. CTV Weekly Insights: the growth of #CTV continues, rapidly. 2.8% more of U.S. consumers TV watch-time has shifted in just five months. Noteworthy during this period are the attraction to #fast channel platforms such as Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Pluto TV. While these each provide a tremendous amount of content (think basic cable), they are also giant buckets of advertising inventory. So in addition to many other independent apps, fulfilling CTV ad buys should never be an issue.
