Temu's strategy to attract Amazon merchants is reshaping the competitive landscape of eCommerce. According to The Wall Street Journal (Oct. 6), Amazon has launched a new storefront featuring lower-priced items similar to those on Temu. Meanwhile, Temu, traditionally reliant on shipping from China, is expanding its local delivery capabilities and partnering with U.S.-based sellers and brands. Jordan Berke, founder of retail consultancy Tomorrow, predicts more brands will shift to Temu, saying, “Sellers will jump at the chance to diversify.” Data from Similarweb shows Temu is now the second-most-visited shopping site globally, with increasing popularity in the U.S. According to Emarketer, Temu’s share of the U.S. eCommerce market is expected to triple from 0.7% in 2023 to 2.3% by 2025. Though still dwarfed by Amazon’s 40% market share, Temu’s rise is being viewed as one of Amazon's biggest challenges in recent years. Amazon, which generates approximately $140 billion from seller services such as logistics and account management, is also making strides in improving customer experiences. The company has integrated new features, like enhanced visual search and generative AI-driven search capabilities, to boost consumer spending and loyalty. Walmart is similarly enhancing its search technology as it expands its marketplace offerings, seeking to better compete with Amazon’s vast reach. According to PYMNTS, these innovations are key as 40% of shoppers prioritize ease of navigation when choosing where to make online purchases. The competition between these eCommerce giants reflects an evolving market where innovation, price, and service improvements are more crucial than ever. #temu #amazon #ecommerce #ecommercebusiness #kunhive

Temu Eyes Amazon's Throne: US Marketplace Strategy Unveiled Can Temu Disrupt the US E-commerce Landscape?🧐🧐 Since its September 2022 launch, Temu has aggressively entered the US market, challenging Amazon's dominance with its ultra-competitive pricing strategy. However, Temu's initial reliance on a consignment model with Chinese sellers limited its reach and fulfillment speed. Now, Temu is making a strategic shift, potentially shaking up the US e-commerce landscape. Temu Expands Seller Base: A Move Towards Amazon Parity Temu's new strategy involves onboarding sellers with US-based inventory, marking a significant shift from its China-centric model. This hybrid marketplace approach allows Temu to: 👉Reduce reliance on Chinese shipping: Faster fulfillment times are crucial for competing with Amazon 👉Prime's speedy deliveries. US-based inventory enables Temu to offer more competitive shipping options. 👉Expand product selection and pricing: The new model opens doors for US and European sellers, diversifying Temu's product range and potentially offering more competitive pricing points. 👉Attract established brands: While competitors like Shein have struggled to onboard major brands, Temu might entice them with its growing US presence and attractive fees. 🧐🧐Can Temu Capture Market Share from Amazon? Temu's success hinges on several factors: ▪️Onboarding established sellers: Successfully attracting major brands and established Amazon sellers with US inventory is critical for building consumer trust and product variety. ▪️Balancing price with quality: Temu's initial focus on rock-bottom prices might raise concerns about product quality. ▪️Balancing affordability with reliable products will be key. ▪️Building brand awareness: While Temu has made a splashy entrance, sustained marketing efforts are necessary to compete with Amazon's brand recognition. The US e-commerce market is ripe for disruption. Temu's strategic shift towards a US-centric marketplace with faster shipping and a wider selection positions it as a potential contender. Whether Temu can take a sizable bite out of Amazon's market share remains to be seen, but its aggressive approach is sure to stir the pot. What is your plan? Are you considering to sell on Temu? “The Amazon Effect.” Amazon Effect is a term used to describe the effect online retail has brought to the traditional brick & mortar retailing business model by increasing the online sales dramatically. Although the term refers to the general impact of ecommerce on traditional retailers but name is associated with Amazon who is the biggest player, and the first to induce real changes to "consumer behavior" and the overall industry’s landscape in retailing. One of the major effects, Amazon has done is to raise the expectation of consumers that all shipments can be delivered in one or two days, for free. This effect has strained the business models of traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, multi-channel retailers, and other e-commerce sellers who feel pressured to compete with Amazon’s shipping times has forced traditional retailers to bring a lot of changes to their strategies, in order to protect their market share. How Amazon has created this effect... • Competitive pricing • Highly available inventory • Lightning-fast fulfillment (and the ability to change orders) • Real-time tracking information • Mobile support • An easy return process The Ways Amazon Effect is Changing the Supply Chain Management:- The Amazon Effect is creating a magnificent opportunity for supply chain professionals to use their creativity and further change the organizations that employ them. People are starting to think differently about fulfilling orders and this has enormous implications for the world of supply chain management. It is a very exciting time to be a part of the supply chain management industry and this rate of change will not be decreasing anytime soon. It is a highly innovative world that often leads change and it will continue to do so. The prevalence of the internet along with a renewed interest in keeping the customer happy has led to the phenomena known as the Amazon Effect. Brick-and-Mortar stores are closing and warehouse workers are increasing. It will be interesting to see the other ways that the Amazon Effect will continue to change the future. Amazon Effect impact on Supply Chain Management:- * Amazon has drastically increased their fulfilment centers across major cities and * Amazon can get packages in customers’ hands in shorter delivery windows. * Amazon members can get packages delivered the same day they ordered. As a result, this service has made shopping online a very close equivalent of in-person shopping. The “Amazon Effect”— the online empire's impact on consumer expectations and its ensuing business disruptions — doesn't just have wide-reaching consequences for retailers. It touches all points of the supply chains, meaning those who manage those chains and wish to remain competitive must be informed and proactive.

In the fiercely competitive retail market, price matching has become essential, with Amazon leading the charge. Understanding how Amazon's price match policy works can be crucial for both consumers and competitors. Amazon doesn't have a formal price match policy for most items. Instead, it relies on a dynamic pricing algorithm that frequently adjusts prices to stay competitive. However, Amazon does price match on televisions in some cases and offers price adjustments on pre-ordered items if the price drops before release. For retailers, keeping up with Amazon’s fluctuating prices is a challenge but necessary to stay competitive. Utilising price tracking tools and dynamic pricing strategies can help.
