Owning a video editing agency can be super stressful… but it’s all worth it when you can have moments like this ❤️ It’s so stressful and time consuming owning a video editing agency But, it does allow the freedom to work remotely and flexibly time-wise too. So, I can take the time to see my family once in a while :) I love spending time with my people My partner, my friends, my family And that’s one of the huge perks of owning a digital company That considered, it does take up so much time that it can take you away from your people 😂 But it’s all worth it when you have moments like these. This week, I prioritized communication in business by making a tough decision to decline a freelance opportunity. I firmly believe that effective communication is key to success. Timely responses play a vital role in business transactions, and waiting almost two weeks with minimal communication highlighted the significance of staying true to my values. While considering this opportunity, I realized that the prolonged response times were hindering other growth prospects. Ultimately, the lack of communication led me to reassess the situation, concluding that the opportunity did not align with my values. Embracing the power of saying "no," I am committed to keeping my schedule open for connections and ventures that genuinely reflect my principles. As most of you probably know, I am still searching for freelance, permanent, or part-time roles in project, event, or sustainability management. My biggest challenge is that I prefer a remote role with only occasional travel. And I totally understand this may limit my options. However, what I don't understand is the feedback I've received recently: 1. "You are overqualified, and the position pays less than your previous role." (I don't care about the pay difference; I've applied anyway. If I can do the job remotely, I'm fine with it.) 2. "You are such an all-around person and know so many things; I don't think you would be a fit." What? After discussing with a friend (thank you, Alex, by the way), I received an honest comment: trim down your CV and try again. Is this really the current state of the job market? Or am I just naive and this has always been the case? I would love to hear your opinions. Losing a freelance client you love is never easy, especially when you're neurodivergent and deal with rejection sensitive dysphoria. It's a tough hit to the heart. 💔 But here's what I've learned: 1. **Self-Compassion:** It's okay to feel deeply. Acknowledge your emotions and give yourself grace. I spent a few hours today feeling sorry for myself and that's ok! 2. **Growth Opportunities:** This is a chance to invest time in training and upskilling. What new skills can I bring to the table for future clients? Currently I am working on 5 different Project Management courses for development! 3. **Resilience:** Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Use this experience to refine your services and find clients who value your unique strengths. 4. **Networking:** Focus on expanding your network. New connections can lead to new opportunities.
