PSA: One big way to save is to challenge the assessed value of your property. Filing in Cook County does not affect the future assessments of the property, and there is no fee for the appeal process. According to some estimates, up to 60 percent of properties in Cook County have an inflated assessed value. Some of our clients have saved up to $6000 by filing. For more information on how to begin the process of appealing, check out our upcoming webinar: #HUDCertifiedProud https://lnkd.in/gasaAd69

In the 2023 State of the Region report, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber wrote there is a "significant need to improve our college graduate retainment." On Wednesday, Cincinnati City Council will vote to approve the final portion of $600,000 that was put aside for the event in this year's budget. Walsh framed the event as an investment in Cincinnati's short- and long-term future. In the short term, the city will benefit from hotel room occupancies and traffic to small businesses. In the long term, Walsh said a positive experience creates more awareness for the city. Holland Pump Co. has 5 Cooperative Purchasing Programs for the Government & Municipal Agencies in North America. Are you a school, university, nonprofit, or government agency? THEN THIS IS FOR YOU! Holland's Cooperative Programs: https://lnkd.in/giyvvjwN Call and discuss: (561) 697-3333 ext 6603 Why use a cooperative purchasing program? 1. You’ll save time. Cooperative purchasing satisfies your procurement process. The competitive solicitation is done, and the contracts are ready for use. This saves you and your city the time of performing your own request for- proposal or bid process. Cooperative contracts speed up contract creation and product delivery. 2. You’ll save money. When buying through a cooperative, you’ll join thousands of public entities in leveraging economies of scale and negotiating tiers of savings. 3. You’ll access high-quality contracts. It’s not just the bottom dollar you need to consider when making a purchase. Your city likely needs contract flexibility, has local purchasing preferences, has sustainability and social responsibility goals, and more. #pumps #purchase #cooperative #buying #municpal #school #university #nonprofit #government #agency #bids #accessories #equipment

Reading and flinching at the grant application processes exposed, or pilloried, by Crappy Funding Practices, I ask myself what these processes remind me of. The closest I can think of is applying for a small loan with bad credit. What is the “ideal” funders have in mind as they create these processes? What are they, in effect, pretending to be? Loan officers? Prudent investors in penny stocks? Supervisors at the Department of Motor Vehicles? And who is the audience they have in mind as giving a gold star for adding one more tedious and burdensome step for grantees to take? Would the total hours wasted at $15 an hour for grant applicants actually exceed the total grant to the lucky grantee from the pool? It hurts my heart to see well meaning, if misguided, people of wealth made an example of. Vigilante Social Justice makes me despair of “shifting power” from one group to another, unless we each reform ourselves. But if we are to be the change we want to see in the world, we might review our grantmaking process, and do a cost benefit analysis, with grantee time factored in. We might find our grants to grassroots organizations in total are a net negative, like The State Lottery. #grantwriting #grantmaking #philanthropy #trustbasedphilanthropy
