Glad to have been part of this insightful discussion. Here are my key takeaways: The Philippines has maintained its 52nd position out of 67 economies in the IMD 2024 World Competitiveness Yearbook, consistent with last year's ranking. Among its four key pillars (with 256 criteria), the Philippines has seen a decline in Business Efficiency, and Infrastructure remains a persistent challenge. On a positive note, Government Efficiency has improved, with notable positive projections in areas such as optimism in the Philippine labor market, employment rates, and consistent positive trends in real GDP growth. These findings align with the recently released AHK World Business Outlook Spring 2024 Survey by the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (GPCCI / AHK Philippinen) where it highlighted positive local economic projections and a higher rate of employment in the next 12 months. However, both the WCY and the AHK survey indicate ongoing concerns about economic policy conditions and infrastructure.
