Why would someone want to spend 7 hours in the open ocean on a 14 ft board with no paddle or any other assistance except their own strength? Tyler set a goal to train, qualify and compete in the Catalina Classic late last year. At first it was a thought. The thought became a vision and goal, and in the end he created purpose and meaning for himself. It started with a Why. Being in the water is part of who this young man is. He started surfing when he was 8. Being recognized as part of an elite group of athletes to compete in this event is part of his Why. Having a purpose and a WHY changes a person. I am blown away by the transformation in my son the past six months. What's your WHY? #leadership #coaching #transformation #positiveintelligence #mentalfitness #predictiveindex #coactive #team #highperformingteams

I'm starting to love Anger I always loved that shot of adrenaline that anger gives me. That powerful kick that shoots me up to the stars. But I never liked the consequences much. Now, the last time I got angry, I felt all that energy in motion, and I said: I'm surfing this wave. And that’s how I achieved something I have kept trying for the last 6 years, in one week. What have you gained from anger? #Leadership #LeasershipDevelopment #Coaching

𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 #𝟭𝟮 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵—D𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂? Every single Olympian competing in Paris has a coach or mentor. They know that to be the best at what they do, they need guidance, accountability, and support. Behind every medal, there’s a coach who helped shape that journey, pushing them through challenges and celebrating their victories. Contrast this with many amateur athletes in various sports - they often go it alone, without the guidance of a coach. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’s 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵: 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿. So, the question is: do you want to be a middle-of-the-road, amateur business person? Or do you want to reach the pinnacle of your industry and be the best you possibly can? Success doesn’t happen in isolation. Just like Olympians, we all need someone to push us, challenge us, and help us see our blind spots. Gavin Weeks has written a wonderful piece about the journey to mastery. Watching the Olympics with his son made him think about his own sporting dreams, and reflect on the joy that we can all find in growth. Mastery isn’t an achievement but a process, or journey, and one that is vital throughout our lifespan. Our focus might change but our love of learning need not wane. Although coaching isn't my primary job, I love making time to pursue my passion for it. There's something special about being on the field, working with players of all abilities, and seeing their growth and enjoyment. Moments like these remind me why I continue to stay involved—it's not just about football; it's about making a positive impact. Small gestures like this are the best kind of reward. #Coaching #Passion #Football #YouthDevelopment #PositiveImpact

Will this make the boat go faster? 🚣♂️ It's a question I’ve used with several clients this month, each in their own context. The phrase, borrowed from Olympic rower Ben Hunt-Davis and the crew on their quest for gold at the 2000 Games, became their decision-making filter. 🥇 Every action was measured by this one simple question. Does this 70-minute rowing session make the boat go faster? "Unfortunately yes"—then do it. 💪 Does going to the pub for drinks help the boat go faster? "Unfortunately" no—then skip it. 🍻 This clear focus aligned their actions with their ultimate goal. For my clients, it works in a similar way. The question becomes: Does this serve me and my goals? It's a powerful lens to keep them aligned with their next action step, no matter how small. What about you? What question can you ask yourself to ensure your actions are aligned with your goals? If you’re ready to make your boat go faster and achieve more, let’s have a conversation. Message me to explore how coaching can help you accelerate your progress. _______________________________________________________ Unlike rowing, beer does help banger cars go faster. At least that is the impression I had from seeing a few of the drivers between heats. #compassion #courage #resilience #leadership #performance
