As we approach another Thanksgiving, I find myself reflecting on the power of gratitude—not just as a seasonal gesture, but as a foundational principle for life and business. This past Sunday, at our church's Friendsgiving service, our pastor shared two profound thoughts that truly resonated: 1. "Be louder when you get something than when you need something." How often do we cry out to God—or to anyone—when we’re in need, only to whisper our thanks once the storm has passed? Gratitude should be the loudest voice in our lives. 2. "Some people are as religious as they are in need." It’s a stark reminder that God is just as good when we are thriving as He is when we are struggling. Yet, how often do we forget to acknowledge Him during the good times? This dynamic doesn’t just apply to our personal lives—it shows up in business too. When crises hit, we’re quick to pray for guidance, solutions, or provision. But when things go well—a successful project, a loyal client, a supportive team—do we pause to express true gratitude? I encourage all of us to reflect on the blessings we’ve already received, both personally and professionally. Let’s make gratitude a daily habit, not just a seasonal sentiment. Take time to thank your family for their support, your colleagues for their dedication, and your clients for their trust. Most importantly, thank God not just for what you’re asking for, but for what you already have. Gratitude changes perspectives. It shifts our focus from scarcity to abundance, from anxiety to peace, and from striving to thriving. So, this Thanksgiving, and every day after, let’s be people who are thankful louder than we ask—who appreciate not only in times of need, but in times of plenty. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. May your gratitude be a source of inspiration to everyone around you!

The Power of Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Reflection Last week the season of Thanksgiving graced us once again. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the simple yet profound blessing of being alive and able to celebrate another holiday with my family. Each shared meal, warm embrace, and heartfelt conversation reminds me how precious these moments truly are. But Thanksgiving should be more than just one day of giving thanks. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the role gratitude plays in our daily lives. Gratitude has the power to transform our perspective, reminding us to cherish life’s joys and remain resilient in the face of challenges. Let us remember that gratitude is not reserved for grand gestures or special occasions. It thrives in the little moments—acknowledging a colleague's effort, saying “thank you” to a stranger, or simply pausing to appreciate the beauty of a sunrise. More than ever, the world needs kindness, compassion, and a shared commitment to being thankful every day. Whether in our personal relationships or professional endeavors, practicing gratitude inspires us to treat others with respect and empathy, creating a ripple effect that can transform lives. So, just as we gathered around our tables this Thanksgiving, let’s commit to carrying the spirit of gratitude forward. Let’s inspire one another to be kind, thankful, and compassionate—not just today, but every day. Here’s to a future where gratitude lights our paths and kindness becomes the norm. Wishing you all a belated and blessed Thanksgiving and a life filled with endless reasons to be grateful.

A post Thanksgiving musing from my Take it or Leave it Free Advice Drive Through Clinic: Just a few days ago so many of us were fortunate enough to gather together with friends and families to share a meal and give thanks for what we have been blessed with. Counting your blessings and taking the time to see the positive in your life, even though life isn’t perfect, will help you feel happier and more joyful. Living with gratitude is about noticing the little things in life, taking the time to feel grateful for them, and training your mind to see your blessings instead of your problems. Why are we so focused on this attitude of gratitude on the Thanksgiving Holiday, but often forgetful or not mindful of being grateful every day of the year? Also, I always have believed that the second half of the word Thanks-“giving” is often overlooked. Gratitude is unfortunately a temporary emotion. Maybe that’s one reason why it is front and center on Thanksgiving but more easily extinguished shortly afterwards. Giving however is a more lasting value. When we remind ourselves of all that we give (small and big), or have given to others, we mindfully stage for ourselves that we are the kind of person who cares about others, and we became invested in giving more. To sum it all up- here’s my free advice: Be grateful for the little things, big things and everything in between…and give without remembering and receive without forgetting. Take my advice above and I promise you that you will be happier, and more content and fulfilled. #makeeverydayoneofthanksandgiving Be well, joe

Unlock the Secret to Unshakable Peace This Season As we step into a month dedicated to thanksgiving and connection, it’s easy to get sidetracked maybe even a bit anxious about the unsettledness of our current world—voices clashing, opinions dividing, and stress mounting. But what if, in the midst of it all, we chose gratitude? Our Personal Journey with Gratitude This year has been filled with many changes and transitions for us—two weddings, empty nesting, and all the joys that come with it. Yet, amidst these good things, we have found ourselves feeling sad at times. We realized we were losing moments from a season that felt like we could never regain. Our kids were moving on, and we felt a bit left behind. But as we practiced the power of gratitude, it helped us welcome this new season. We’re so thankful that all our kids love Jesus, have found their happily-ever-afters, and still love us. They are healthy and happy. We raised them to know their worth and prepared them for this season. Gratitude truly changed our attitudes, helping us celebrate their milestones rather than mourn what we thought we were losing. Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude 1. Start Your Day with Thanks: Begin with a morning prayer, thanking God for even the smallest blessings. What small blessing can you acknowledge today? 2. Express It Freely: Share what you’re thankful for with loved ones and encourage them to do the same. How could you spark a gratitude conversation at your next family gathering? 3. Celebrate the Little Things: Find joy in simple daily moments and speak them out loud. What little thing brought you joy today? Join Our 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge! This month, we invite you to participate in a simple gratitude challenge. Each day, take a moment to reflect on one thing you are grateful for, no matter how small. Share your thoughts with us on social media using #GratitudeWithMFAP As we prepare for Thanksgiving and all it represents, let’s make gratitude a daily practice, not just a holiday one. Gratitude has the power to soften hearts, inspire unity, and transform the way we interact with each other. Reflective Question: What is one thing you’re grateful for today that you often overlook? How could you express that gratitude in a meaningful way?

Thanksgiving is Thursday! What are YOU GRATEFUL FOR? As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to reflect on the true spirit of the holiday. In a world that often focuses on what's lacking, Thanksgiving is a powerful reminder of the importance of gratitude. This year, I encourage you to try something new. 🎁 Start a joy journal. Commit to spending just 5 minutes a day, or less, writing down the things that bring you happiness. It could be a beautiful sunset, a kind word from a friend, or the warmth of a good cup of coffee on a chilly morning. By focusing on the joy in our lives, we can shift our perspective and cultivate a deeper sense of gratitude. 🎁 And here's the best part: gratitude is contagious. 😊 As you focus on the joy in your life, look for ways to spread that joy to others. Offer a smile to a stranger, carry someone's groceries to their car, or pay for the person's coffee or meal behind you. 🎁 These small acts of kindness can have a profound impact on someone's day. This Thanksgiving let's make a commitment to not just focus on what we're thankful for, but to also pay that gratitude forward. Let's use this holiday as an opportunity to spread joy and make the world a little bit brighter. ♥️ I promise you, if you start a joy journal and make an effort to spread kindness, you will feel a difference. Your heart will be lighter, your spirit will be lifted, and you will approach the world with a renewed sense of wonder and gratitude. 🦃 So, let's embrace the true spirit of Thanksgiving this year. Let's focus on joy, let's spread kindness, and let's make the world a better place, one small act at a time. ♥️ Sharing is caring, repost to your network with a note of how grateful you are to have them in your life. 🦃 Comment below your favorite Thanksgiving side dish😊 #Gratitude #JoyJournal #PayItForward #KindnessMatters

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude We all have blessings in our lives, big and small. So let's do this: Take a moment to stop. Just stop. Think about your life— 🌟 your work, 🌟 your health, 🌟 the people who matter most, 🌟 and small, impactful blessings that often go unnoticed. All of these, together, make up the unique blessings in your world. Pause and let yourself truly feel gratitude for these blessings. 💓 Take a few slow, deep breaths. Let that sense of calm and peace stay with you as we step into the spirit of Thanksgiving. Side note: Gratitude can be grounding. If this feeling resonates with you, consider starting a daily gratitude practice—it’s a simple way to stay centered. I appreciate you and am grateful for you! * This photo is from my talk last week. So many takeaways to share soon. For now, I am thankful for who showed up, listened with an open mind, took notes, and shared the moment. Feeling truly grateful to be able to make a difference! I hope you will engage in the gratitude exercise ... it will recenter your thinking. Let me know! Happy Thanksgiving! 🙏

A Thanksgiving Reflection: Gratitude in the Heart of Change Thanksgiving is more than a meal shared; it is a moment of unity, reflection, and gratitude. This holiday invites us to pause, amidst the rush of our daily lives, and appreciate the richness of our connections, achievements, and even challenges. The Power of Connection This Thanksgiving, as families and friends gather, we are reminded of the unique strength found in community. The past few years have shown us how vital our relationships are, even when circumstances force us apart. Sharing a table, whether in person or virtually, is a symbol of resilience and love—a celebration of the ties that bind us. Gratitude in the Small Moments While grand accomplishments and milestones deserve acknowledgment, let us not overlook the quiet moments that shape our lives. A smile from a stranger, a word of encouragement from a colleague, or the comforting routines of home—all are threads in the tapestry of our lives. Embracing Growth Through Challenges Challenges often come unbidden, testing our resolve and strength. Yet, they offer invaluable lessons. As we reflect on the obstacles we’ve faced, we find opportunities to give thanks for the growth they’ve inspired and the compassion they’ve nurtured. Looking Forward with Hope Thanksgiving also serves as a bridge to the future, reminding us to approach each day with hope and kindness. The spirit of giving thanks is not confined to one day; it is a mindset, a commitment to recognizing the beauty in life’s everyday moments. A Call to Action Let this season inspire us to extend gratitude outward. Reach out to someone who may need a kind word. Volunteer time to help those in need. A single act of gratitude has the power to transform not only the receiver but the giver as well. As we gather this Thanksgiving, let’s cherish the warmth of our shared humanity. May our hearts remain open to gratitude, not just for one day but as a guiding light throughout the year. Happy Thanksgiving to all! #Thanksgiving2024 #Gratitude #Thankfulness #FamilyAndFriends #Community #ThanksgivingReflection #CelebrateTogether #ActsOfKindness #HopeAndGratitude #HolidaySeason

The Lifeline of Gratitude This Thanksgiving, let's explore gratitude from a different angle, finding appreciation not just in abundance but in scarcity. Growing up, money was never a major source of stress in my life. While I understood its necessity for survival and growth, I was fortunate enough to view it simply as a tool rather than a burden. But life has shown me that this isn't everyone's reality. I've witnessed countless families navigating the delicate balance of living paycheck to paycheck—parents making silent sacrifices to keep the lights on, enduring sleepless nights, and shouldering the weight of financial uncertainty. I'll never forget one particular story that changed my perspective. A parent working two jobs and still struggling to get ahead. Yet what struck me most wasn't their challenges but their unwavering ability to find joy in life's simple moments, their children's laughter, a neighbor's kind gesture, or the quiet victory of making it through another day. This taught me something profound: gratitude isn't a privilege reserved for times of plenty. Instead, it serves as a lifeline during our hardest moments, helping us reframe challenges and nurture hope, even when the numbers don't add up. This Thanksgiving, I invite you to pause and reflect. What brings light to your life? Perhaps it's not the grand achievements but the small, precious moments that make each day meaningful. Gratitude has a remarkable way of transforming our perspective, including our relationship with money. I'd love to hear your story. What's one thing you're grateful for today? Share in the comments below. Let's create a ripple of gratitude this Thanksgiving. 🦃💙
