Fly Khiva to start cargo flights from mid-April 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan’s start-up Fly Khiva will start cargo flights from mid-April, its vice president Alisher Nurmatov told CentralAsia+ Aero. The private airline plans to provide cargo services between Europe and China through Uzbekistan. Currently, the company has one Boeing 767-300F freighter, leased from Icelandair in January. Nurmatov also mentioned that negotiations are underway to acquire two more aircraft of the type, which are currently undergoing maintenance in Shannon, Ireland. The leasing terms for the first aircraft call for its maintenance being handled by the lessor. However, Fly Khiva has plans to establish its own base maintenance center in the future. "Most likely, this will not be in Tashkent," noted Nurmatov. Possibly, Navoi airport will serve as an alternative to Tashkent. Since the late 2000s, Navoi has been developed primarily as a cargo hub. Recently, the government has been attracting maintenance providers to the airport. This week, Uzbekistan Airports holding signed an agreement with the Italian provider EU Wings to establish a base maintenance center there. Highlights from this month's Middle East aviation data: 📈 The country with the fastest growth rate this month compared to last October is Bahrain, where seats have increased by 12%. ➕ Carriers adding most seats this month compared to last October are flynas with an additional 248,000 seats (an increase of 26%); followed by Etihad with 220,000 more seats (a 25% increase); and SAUDI AIRLINES with 148,000 more seats (up 6%). ✈️Domestic capacity growth remains strong, up 10.5% compared to October 2023, whilst international capacity growth for this month is up 1.6% on the same month last year.
