⚾ Take me out to the ball game ⚾ The need to know.... RBI (Runs Batted In): This stat tracks how often a player’s at-bat helps score a run. For instance, if a batter hits a single and a runner on third base scores, that’s an RBI. Batting Average: Represents how often a player hits successfully; for example, Shohei Ohtani's .304 means he hits the ball 304 times out of 1,000. 65-66%: This figure shows the chance of a team winning the World Series after taking the first game—emphasizing a strong start is crucial. 50-50 Player: Ohtani joins an elite club with 51 home runs and 51 stolen bases this season, achieving the rare 50-50 milestone. 11 out of 12: The Dodgers have won the NL West title in 11 of the last 12 seasons, showcasing their dominance. 105.8 mph: The fastest pitch ever recorded in MLB history, exemplifying the incredible talent in today’s game. Babe Ruth: His legendary status transcends baseball, making him an icon even among non-fans. 100 million: That’s how many homes worldwide will tune in to watch the World Series. Fun Fact: Did you know that baseball is believed to be over 170 years old? The first official baseball game was played in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1846! #LGdodgers #Ibleedblue #divisionchamps #weownthewest #baseball #hiplock #funfacts

Taking a slightly different approach to the weekly Minor League Baseball pitching update this Monday: instead of a season-long review, here are the top 10 MiLB single-game outings this season! For this, I used Tom Tango's game score metric, which was conceived in 2014. MLB Gameday box scores use Bill James' game score, but the two are somewhat similar: a score of 50 is average, positive outcomes increase the score, and negative outcomes decrease the score. The exact equation used (and how it differs from James' version) can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gZWkjdfb The Los Angeles Angels and Atlanta Braves systems lead the way, with four of the top five and five of the top 10. The three men with a score of 90 are all top-30 prospects in their systems, according to Major League Baseball (MLB) rankings: Kochanowicz - #9 Angels prospect, #4 pitcher Daniel - #28 Angels prospect, #13 pitcher Murphy - #5 Braves prospect, #5 pitcher The most important thing I learned from this analysis: The Atlanta Braves have a deep crop of pitchers down on the farm.

Cheat sheet to 28
A thrilling postseason is approaching its climax—a battle between each league’s juggernaut team. The 27-time champion Yankees are in the World Series for the first time since 2009 and the 7-time champion Dodgers are back in the Fall Classic for the fourth time in the last eight seasons, aiming to secure their first full-season title since 1988. The most common World Series matchup in being renewed for 12th time, the first since 1981 in which the Dodgers beat the Yankees in 6 games. The Yankees have won eight of their eleven World Series meetings, including the first five. The Dodgers lineup averaged 5.2 runs per game this season (second to only the Diamondbacks). How should the Yankees pitch to them in their attempt at capturing their 28th title? #baseball #worldSeries New York Yankees Major League Baseball (MLB) https://lnkd.in/ezkQvEx5

How To Win The World Series Ep 8: Comeback Wins Unlike most major sports, there is no set time limit to a baseball game. The game is not over until the final strike. This format makes comebacks possible. Great teams and electric offenses allow teams to steal wins late in games. Are World Series teams the most clutch? Are they the best at stealing these games on a consistent basis? That’s the question I sought to answer. Baseball is a game that can change rapidly. A team can have a strong three-run lead in the 8th, bring in a reliever who’s having an off night, and boom, that comfortable lead is gone. The data shows little correlation between winning it all and comeback wins. However, I wanted to see if there was any correlation among the champions who did rank towards the top in comebacks. Shut down closers. The Yankees won four World Series during this span, and comebacks were their thing. During all four of those championships, Mariano Rivera was closing out games for the Yankees. The Red Sox had Craig Kimbrel. The Dodgers had Kenley Jansen. The list goes on and on. Dominant closers allow momentum to stay alive. If the team is mounting a comeback and then gives up a couple of runs in the ninth, it dies. The Hall of Fame-level relievers who keep their team in the game are the backbone to constantly coming from behind to steal the win. #baseball #r #sports #coding #learning #mlb #rangers #dodgers
