This is an interesting and not-unexpected news story. The mass scale pseudo-electrification of our transportation systems has never been anything other than a commercial venture. It is brought on by a select few (Musk being the major proponent), reaping hyper-massive earnings, at the cost of the many. The long term overall financial cost, and poorly forecasted environmental benefits just don’t hold water. And now, the largest manufacturer of motor vehicles is getting smart, and all others will quickly follow, none-to-soon. Anyway.. interesting read. Just quoting from the Autocar article on the new Mercedes CLA prototype "..the energy capacity of the new model’s lithium ion battery also remains under wraps, though it is claimed to be 89.6kWh. This is said to provide the new CLA with an average consumption of around 5.2mpkWh and an overall range of up to 466 miles, making it one of the most efficiency and longest-ranged cars on sale."
