Cloud-based EDA tools offer scalability, collaboration, and cost efficiency, enabling engineers to access powerful software and resources remotely. For instance, in March 2022, Synopsys introduced a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, revolutionizing chip development with scalable accessibility. These platforms offer scalable and flexible resources including virtual machines, storage, and networking to host EDA applications & data. EDA tools are deployed as SaaS solutions, allowing users to access them over the internet. This eliminates the need for on-premises installations and provides greater flexibility in terms of licensing and resource allocation. The proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected devices is a significant factor driving the expansion of the electronic design automation (EDA) market. With the rising adoption of IoT, there is a surge in the number of connected devices including smart home appliances, wearables, and industrial sensors. For instance, in August 2023, Reliance Jio introduced Smart Home Services that allow users to seamlessly control home appliances. In this video, I'll be showcasing a MQTT-based smart home system using the ESP32 board. This project demonstrates how to control and monitor various home appliances and environmental parameters efficiently. Project Highlights: --Components Used: ESP32 Board: The central microcontroller for the project. DHT11 Sensor: For measuring temperature and humidity. Relay Module: To control high-voltage appliances. LEDs: For basic control demonstration. Anedya IoT Cloud: I used Anedya cloud to store data and to send command from dashboard to device. Streamlit Dashboard: For real-time control and monitoring. --Features: Remote Control: Turn LEDs on and off from anywhere using the Streamlit dashboard. Environmental Monitoring: Real-time temperature and humidity data from the DHT11 sensor. MQTT Protocol: Ensures reliable communication between devices and the cloud. --How It Works: The ESP32 board reads data from the DHT11 sensor. Sensor data is sent to the Anedya IoT Cloud via MQTT. The Streamlit dashboard fetches data from the cloud, displaying temperature and humidity. Control commands for LEDs and relays are sent from the dashboard to the ESP32 through the cloud. I've been playing around with smart home tech for a while now, and have to say it's easy to get used to the convenience and practicality of connected devices. For example, I’ve been using 🚨 UniFi Protect (Ubiquiti Inc.), a smart camera monitoring app, for a while now. 🔒 Nuki smart lock, too (Nuki Home Solutions GmbH). 🌡️ Daikin Onecta (Daikin Industries, Ltd.) for cooling, Danfoss Icon for heating the apartment. I have to admit Icon could be a bit more intuitive to use. 💡 Shelly for controlling the lights. (Shelly Digital) 🧳 AirTag for tracking down my luggage when traveling, or keeping up with my kids when they go on a trip. 📺 SmartThings for turning off the TV when I can’t find the remote. 🙂 (Samsung Electronics) 🧹 Roomba is a must with two small kids. (iRobot) 🤖 Home Assistant, helps me monitor humidity in my cigar humidor. And to be honest, that’s the only thing I use it for. Never took the time to create some more advanced setup, so I’m just clicking update all the time (those who know, know 😂) At Infinum, we've been involved in many large-scale IoT projects, from consumer electronics to heavy industry sectors. I’m always glad to see businesses transforming after the right IoT implementation.
