Engaging and Impactful Learning at IIM Udaipur! 📚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭. This summer, I had the privilege of attending a program at Indian Institute of Management Udaipur, exploring courses in marketing, finance, and strategy. However, the 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 course truly stood out for me. Initially, I expected it to be about writing business blogs or letters to CXOs, but it far exceeded my expectations! We learned how a simple comma mistake can cause significant business issues and analysed the famous "La La Land" Oscars mix-up. Each session was enlightening, thanks to the exceptional guidance of Prof. Jugal Choudhary PhD. Our final task was especially challenging: addressing a colleague who was not receiving a promised promotion due to complaints about their behaviour. Despite their significant contributions to the company's growth, the dilemma was not just about the promotion but how to communicate the decision to ensure they remained with the company. In the video below, you'll see a glimpse of our last lecture, where Prof. Choudhary himself tackled this scenario after extensive class discussions. Divya Bansal was on the receiving end of this difficult news during the role-play. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨! 🎥 This experience highlighted the importance of effective communication at managerial levels, not just with potential clients but also with employees. How we convey messages can significantly impact internal relationships and overall company morale. #IIMUdaipur #BusinessCommunication #ProfessionalGrowth #EffectiveCommunication #LeadershipSkills

IIM Udaipur was honored to host Mr. Vishal Malik, Chief Operating Officer at Kearney Global Hubs, for The Samarthya - The CXO Talk Series. During the session, Mr. Malik reflected on his 25 years of corporate career and delivered his insights in a unique concert-style session, blending music with seven key lessons. He emphasized the importance of starting in a directionally correct path and building a career around one's "unfair advantages," which are natural strengths. Mr. Malik stressed that attitude and skills, such as resilience, consistency, and resourcefulness, are essential for long-term career success. The speaker, through songs and stories, highlighted the importance of cultivating deep relationships with mentors, sponsors, and confidants. He pointed out that adaptability and agility are critical for growth, urging professionals to constantly learn, unlearn, and relearn in a rapidly changing world. His insights were complemented by live performances, making each lesson more impactful. Mr. Malik concluded by reinforcing the idea that a career is a marathon, not a sprint, encouraging professionals to maintain balance between career, health, and relationships. The musical format emphasized his message that life, much like music, is a mash-up of different priorities that need harmonizing. #UnstoppableWithIIMU #BuildingUTogether #IIMUdaipur #IIMU #Samarthya #Student #MBA #BSchool #Leadership #Management

Hi All, It's hard to believe that a month has already flown by at the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur. From someone who never imagined being in this position, to attending classes and learning from exceptional faculty members feels like a dream come true. As I navigate through this transformative journey, I would like to pause and look back at the valuable lessons learned over the past month. Here are some key takeaways: Value of Time: One of the earliest lessons I embraced upon entering college was the importance of respecting not only others' time but also my own. A pivotal moment during orientation underscored this principle when a session presenter cancelled the session as many students arrived late. This experience taught me to honour commitments and arrive punctually, a practice I've observed among our esteemed faculty members. Time Management: With the rigour of a one-year program, effective time management is non-negotiable. Failing to prioritize tasks can result in missed opportunities. Learning to manage time efficiently has been a crucial skill set honed during this period. Power of Storytelling: Coming from an engineering background, I've recognized the importance of storytelling in effective communication. While technical expertise is valuable, weaving narratives captivates audiences and leaves a lasting impact. I eagerly anticipate delving deeper into this art through the upcoming course, "Storytelling for Business Managers." Leaving Comfort Zones: Success often lies beyond the confines of comfort. Embracing challenges and stepping out of comfort zones is imperative for personal growth. I've actively pursued opportunities to enhance my public speaking skills by presenting in front of my peers, aiming to become a more confident and articulate communicator. Navigating Stressful Environments: Life presents challenges, and how we navigate through them defines our journey. Despite being only a month into the program, I've already encountered heightened levels of stress. However, I view these experiences as invaluable preparation for the realities awaiting beyond the campus walls. Before I end, I would like to share a quote that remained with me from one of the orientation sessions on how to make the most of this transformational journey. "Challenge yourself, challenge others!" As I eagerly look forward to the roller coaster ride ahead, filled with more challenges and opportunities for growth, I'm grateful for the enriching experiences and the supportive community at IIMU. Here's to embracing the journey with enthusiasm and resilience! #MBAJourney #PersonalGrowth #LearningExperience

What’s more important: the degree you earn or the college you attend? 🤔 As I reflect on my experience at the Summer Program in Management at the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur, this question lingers in my mind.❓ During this intensive program, I had the privilege of delving into Marketing Management, Financial Accounting, Cost Management, and 11 more courses. However, along the curriculum, I found that the learning also came from the environment, the people, and the invaluable life lessons imparted by the professors. 🌟 Here are some of the key non-academic takeaways: ⏰ "Punctuality is the hallmark of a good manager. 8:59 for a 9 AM lecture is okay, but 9:01 is not." - Rajesh Agrawal 🧠 "Years later, only 30% of content taught in the B-school will stay relevant. The ultimate goal is to learn how to think critically." - Sai Prakash R Iyer 📚 "Preparedness is important. You need to know what you are dealing with beforehand. Because people will form impressions about you, and you don't want to be remembered as someone who doesn't 'know their stuff.' - Ankur Kapoor 📊 In life & business, there is no one right answer. We have to make the best possible decision based on the available information. - Shankar Prakash 🗣️ Effective communication is about the 'you' attitude. The most important element to focus on in a conversation is the other person. - Jugal Choudhary PhD While the degree is essential for gaining domain knowledge, the value of education also lies in the experiences, interactions, and life lessons gained from the people around you and the professors who inspire you. It's the environment that shapes your perspective and prepares you for the real world. 🌍 #Learning #Management #IIMUdaipur #Education #Growth #LifeLessons #Punctuality #CriticalThinking #Preparedness #DecisionMaking #EffectiveCommunication

Embracing the Grind Since April, my life has taken a dynamic turn as I embarked on the Executive MBA (Master of Management Studies) at IIM Indore. The past few months have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, packed with tight deadlines, intense group projects, challenging assignments, and rigorous exams. All while juggling the demands of work life. But you know what? It's exhilarating. There's something transformative about pushing your boundaries, diving headfirst into new concepts, and collaborating with brilliant minds. The rigorous schedule has not just tested our time management skills but also reshaped our mentality and boosted our confidence. Every day, we are honing our ability to tackle complex problems, work under pressure, and lead with a fresh perspective. Group projects have been a revelation. Working closely with my incredible classmates has taught me the value of diverse perspectives and the power of teamwork. Each project, each late-night study session, and each debate has added a new layer to my understanding and growth. The camaraderie we've built is something I cherish deeply. And yes, there are moments when the workload feels overwhelming. There are times when balancing assignments and professional responsibilities seems like an impossible feat. But these are the moments that define us. They push us to prioritize, to innovate, and to persevere. Here's to the journey, the struggles, and the triumphs. To my classmates who make this journey worthwhile, your support and insights are invaluable. Together, we are not just pursuing an MBA; we are transforming ourselves into better leaders and individuals. Excited to see where this journey takes us!
