Truly appreciate the reporting done by the team at Devex, discussing problematic practices and layoffs by organizations in the global development and social good space. Too many times these organizations get away with unfair labor practices. Next, start looking at the communications and marketing agencies that work for these orgs as not everything is great there either.

In case you missed it, Timothy Hanley, MetTel's SVP of Channel, was recently featured in an insightful article by James Anderson from Channel Futures. In the piece, James explores the challenges businesses encounter as traditional copper phone lines are phased out. If you haven't had a chance to read it yet, be sure to check it out! Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eiqPSVuf #POTSReplacement #POTSTransformation #DigitalTransformation
I was happy to see a trend-focused story I wrote ("Customers Feel the Pain of POTS Transformation," featuring Timothy Hanley, Ross Artale, Steven Gerhardt, Mckay Noel and Chip Hoisington) score really high in our monthly traffic. I'm pushing the thesis that reader are hungry for in-depth, multi-source articles that can help them educate themselves on the market. Sure, people are always going to want to read about layoffs and controversy, but I also want my articles to help people learn and grow. So thanks for reading these stories, everyone! And if there's a (provider-AGNOSTIC) trend you're passionate about, let me know!

#layoffs #analytics I would take some of the causal analysis and recommendations with a pinch of salt but the perspectives of Bhakiv Patel are very interesting and deserves our attention. I loved the term “feature factory” which seems to be what pos-pandemic product management became, according to the article. #insights #product #jobs https://lnkd.in/dt6uZVib

If nobody is going to say it, I will. Stop promoting these tech companies for free using the IP/Influence from your profile and platform. Wearing their t-shirts, showcasing their goodie bag items, posing next to their signs. I get it, you’re excited and I’m excited you’re getting your shot in tech. But go to their company website and see if their promoting you 👀. You’re growing their brand integrity and reach to access your data and community….. For free. After these 4-5 years of harsh mass layoffs from these same tech companies who buy and sell each other, while discarding us in the mist just to look good for stock investors and not even a whiff of care but a cold thank you email as they off board your IAM role as a few bytes that’s no longer useful. I’m not saying don’t rejoice after your hard work, I’m encouraging you to stand on the business these tech companies will always stand on. #techcommunity #cloudtechnology

Still wondering why there are so many layoffs? They are on the screenshot. Full-featured GUI DVD burning application from 201x era weighs 5MB and just donwloader/installer from our obesity era nearly 80MB. Our industry is full of incompetent bystanders who never look for perfection, only for effectiveness. You have an engineer who doesn't question a rationale, you have managers who worship a process. It is just effective to sew full JRE. Effective but not right. You may have saved 1 man-week, but customers lost a years. Our industry has become a plague, opensource and commercial sw occupied by a bean counter businessmans, nobody dreams anymore. Software development business reminds me a swamp of late early 2000s, so there will be a purge.
