Burnout and Work-Life Imbalance: A significant increase in PTO requests could signal employee burnout. Overworked and overwhelmed employees might be requesting more time off to recover and avoid further burnout, which could ultimately lead them to seek new opportunities. Strategic HR Response: Conduct stay interviews or pulse surveys to understand employee sentiment. Analyze workloads and adjust deadlines to ensure they are realistic and manageable. Promote work-life balance by offering flexible work arrangements and encouraging breaks throughout the workday. Employee Dissatisfaction: Employees who are unhappy with their jobs might be requesting more PTO as a way to mentally detach from work.
