Turning passive viewing into interactive experience is the difference between having an audience and having a fan base.
Sitting in Eisner's office What comes out of Michael Eisner’s head is often forward thinking, to say the least. Here are some things he’s said. "What's next is transformational content." “The evolution of media is interactive content.” "It's less about viewing and more about doing." These in particular resonate. We know that when people love content they want to interact with it and lean forward. They want to move past a passive experience and into action. Think about this: We spend a big chunk of our lives consuming digital content. When we do that, we naturally come up with opinions and perspectives on it. We crave community. Yet too many people watch life go by because we can't interact with the content we’re taking in. When storytelling legends such Eisner or Katzenberg say things like, "Let's empower the end user by letting them into the conversation," we should take notice. When our voices are being heard it makes us feel good. It’s simple. One organic way to turn passive audience members into interactive fans is to enable them to interact with your content (written, audio, or video) as they consume it.
