This video starts after the #Angamoozhy Forest Checkpost on National Highway 183A, which stretches from #Chavara Titanium Junction in #Kollam to #Vandiperiyar, passing through #Adoor and #Pathanamthitta. This is the fourth National Highway to pass through Kollam district, having been declared a National Highway on March 4, 2014. It meets NH standards for a two-lane highway from Adoor to #Plapally. However, beyond Plapally, the road narrows to 4 meters and traverses forest and wildlife areas, prompting concerns from the Forest Department about its alignment. Future plans include upgrading the road and establishing a new connection from Vandiperiyar to #Sabarimala. Currently, the stretch between #Angamoozhy Forest Checkpost and #Vallakadavu Forest Checkpost has restricted entry, with the Forest Department allowing only 30 private vehicles per day. Vehicles entering through the #Kochandi Checkpost must exit through the Vallakkadavu Checkpost by 6 pm. Based on the best available information, tiger populations are stable or increasing in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Russia and China. About 5,574 tigers remain in the wild, according to the Global Tiger Forum, but much more work is needed to protect this species if we are to secure its future in the wild. In some areas, including much of Southeast Asia, tigers are still in crisis and declining in number, WWF https://lnkd.in/g2jCCi2a

Two Brother lions swam over 1,5 km across croc and hippo infested waters under the cover of darkness in Uganda. But why? Researchers are not 100% sure why these brothers put their lives in precarious danger, but can only muse it's because they heard lionesses calling from the far side of the river bank and the call to mate was an urgent one! The massive swim – equivalent to the aquatic leg of an Olympic triathlon – was the pair’s fourth attempt to cross the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda, and was recorded by a drone-mounted thermal camera at night. Currently the lion population in this park is two males for every female, as humans and lions battle for territory and living side by side. Tragically, the lion population has been reduced to just 39 lions. Females have been hit harder because they hunt in a pride, so if neighbouring communities set a poisoned carcass, there is a greater risk of multiple deaths. Miraculously, the one lion that made the crossing has only 3 legs and still made it, when the odds have been stacked up against him time and again. “The brotherly bonds of lions go way beyond the limitations of an injury like a missing leg,” says Braczkowski, a scientist from Griffon University, Australia, who's been monitoring the lions to see whether the one has been providing for his 3 legged brother. The 2 lions reached the other side safely and are being monitored to identify their next moves. https://lnkd.in/dgUFPf9P Source: The New Scientist. #lions #animalresearch #arcearth #travelwithpurpose #uganda

Mondo Duplantis has cemented his place as the pole vaulting GOAT by shattering his own world record for the eighth time, clearing a phenomenal 6.24 meters. But his relentless pursuit of improvement transcends sports, offering a masterclass in professional development. Duplantis exemplifies lifelong learning, a core principle for anyone looking to advance their career. Just like he constantly refines his technique and pushes his physical limits, we should always seek out new knowledge, attend workshops, or find mentors to elevate our expertise. Furthermore, Duplantis doesn't shy away from audacious challenges. Embracing similar challenges in our careers, even if they push us outside our comfort zone, can lead to breakthroughs. Finally, Duplantis likely celebrated smaller victories along the way, not just the world record. Acknowledging progress, big or small, keeps us motivated on our own professional development journeys. By following Duplantis' lead, embracing learning, and celebrating every win, we too can reach new heights in our careers.
Mondo Duplantis is the GREATEST POLE VAULTER THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN and he just broke his own world record for the 8TH TIME clearing 6.24m 😱

The South Atlantic proves again to be a tricky place 👇 David Linger left Ushuaia three days ago in relatively mild conditions. The South Atlantic however has proved to be a nastier place than most may think. We have seen skipper navigate the roaring forties and screaming fifties and round Cape Horn only to be met with storms off the coast of Argentina and the Falklands often bringing nasty conditions, big seas, and fierce winds. David Linger on Koloa Maoli will be facing some serious weather in approximately three days and we'll follow closely the strategy he will adopt to minimise the possible risks. https://lnkd.in/exVaY49x
