And it's our job to be aware of the problems that many kids around the globe currently face, so we can help raise awareness and improve the welfare of kids. All children deserve to live a healthy, happy life. No matter where they live. And it starts with doing our part in helping. Just how can we do this? 1.) You can join events that take place in communities that bring adults and kids together to raise awareness. 2.) You can sponsor a kid around the globe through organizations. 3.) You can host an event for parents with children as a way to teach kids how important it is to build a bond with your community.

Increasingly, since the pandemic, our Primary Academies have seen that more of our families are struggling. Too often, we see children coming to school in damaged shoes, in clothes that are too small; we see children, and families, going hungry; we hear from children that they don’t have any toys or books at home. We believe it is our duty to do what we can to change this. This is why we are opening Community Hubs: so that families in need can come to collect essential items. Our supporters have been instrumental in making these Community Hubs happen, pledging financial support and donations of items. Could you, or your company, help? Making a Difference Monday: Spotlight on Change Organization Name: Family First Center of Lake County Location:  Waukegan, IL Mission Statement: Nurture, educate, and provide opportunities within the community by placing emphasis on rebuilding the family, repairing division, and developing strategies to empower change to create a strong family support system. Impact: Through their supporters' generosity, they have made a tangible difference in the lives of countless families in Lake County. Together, they have created a community where families feel connected, supported, and uplifted—where no one is left behind. This organization provides many excellent programs and services, including Infant, Child, and Youth Programs, Mental Health & Trauma Informed Care Services, Emergency Service Resources, Senior (55+) Programs, Certified Community Health Workers, and More. They are impacting the community day in and day out. Leadership Spotlight: Rachel Chenier is the Executive Director of the Family First Center. She is a passionate and visionary leader dedicated to empowering and transforming the lives of families in Lake County, IL. A wealth of experience and expertise in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and community development informs Rachel's leadership. Her profound understanding of local families' challenges and her innovative and compassionate approach have driven the Family First Center's initiatives and programs. Financial Aspect: From providing counseling and support groups to offering educational workshops and empowerment programs, they are committed to nurturing strong, resilient families that can weather any storm. At Family First Center, they believe that every family member deserves to feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Personal Thought: I have seen the passion, commitment, and drive personally from Rachel in her quest to bring change to the community. Growing up in a community of single mothers, homelessness and chronic housing instability were constants in my life. Though I wasn't a foster child myself, my mother and aunts hailed from foster backgrounds, and so instability was a regular occurrence. Fast forward to 2024, serving and uplifting unhoused youth becomes my mission. The spaces God places me are on purpose, for a purpose. 🙏🏾 Youth homelessness is a super complex issue. Shelters are overcrowded, transitional housing is few, and affordable housing - don’t get me started. According to NCSL: 👉🏾 Each year, 1.5 million children and adolescents flee home due to family conflicts, abuse, or neglect, finding themselves homeless. 👉🏾 Over 250,000 children enter foster care annually, with more than 23,000 aging out each year. These youths face heightened risks of homelessness due to various factors, including unstable placements, histories of running away, and time spent in institutional settings. At Pour Over Love, the youth we serve encounter challenges unique to Atlanta, such as the prevalence of sex trafficking and the increasing presence of gangs and initiations. We're dedicated to empowering our youth through a comprehensive approach: expanding our resources to encompass career development, on-the-job training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we aim to facilitate successful transitions. Our goal is ambitious yet attainable: within our 12-month cohorts, we strive to secure stable housing and meaningful careers for each individual, setting the stage for sustainable lifestyles. 🤝 Will you help me in transitioning the lives of Atlanta’s at-risk youth? Not-for-profit, charitable hospitals must conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and implementation plan once every three years. Through this process, CHC helps hospitals better understand and meet the needs of the communities they serve.

Can you help us to tackle homelessness? This month, and the next, and the next? We're a social enterprise and employ all of our tour guides. Raising funds can be tough because we're always asking people to part with money that is stretched in so many different directions. But now, people can make little monthly donations on a regular basis and that is huge news for us. 💚 A fiver a month pays for training materials for a new guide 💚 £10 a month pays for a venue for guide training 💚 £20 a month pays for new guides to explore their city and hear from other museum, gallery and tour guides on how they run their tours.
