Amazon adds PayPal as a payment option to 'Buy with Prime' #Amazon has announced a significant update to its 'Buy with Prime' program: the integration of #PayPal as a new #payment option. Starting now, Prime members can use PayPal to check out on websites that have implemented the 'Buy with Prime' API. Beginning next year, Prime members will also be able to link their Amazon accounts with their PayPal accounts, allowing Prime benefits to automatically apply whenever they use PayPal while shopping. Launched in April 2022, 'Buy with Prime' enables merchants to offer Amazon Prime benefits on their own websites, including fast shipping and seamless checkout using Amazon's fulfillment services. Merchants participating in the program offload fulfillment to Amazon, storing their inventory in Amazon warehouses. This service provides a comprehensive e-commerce experience embedded within a checkout button, complementing existing payment options like Shop Pay and Apple Pay rather than replacing them. Amazon reports significant growth for 'Buy with Prime,' with notable brands such as Dollar Shave Club and IZODadopting the service. According to the company, 'Buy with Prime' orders have increased by 45% year-over-year, and 50% more Prime members have used the service this year compared to the same period last year. However, industry observers note that despite its growth, 'Buy with Prime' remains a niche offering. Challenges include the requirement for brands to send inventory to Amazon warehouses, which can be a substantial barrier to entry. For instance, Shopify initially discouraged merchants from integrating 'Buy with Prime' into their storefronts. The article on TechCrunch in the first comment.

Amazon announced another record-breaking year for Prime Day sales, though without providing specific sales figures. EMARKETER anticipated a new high for its US Prime Day sales at $8.18 billion over the two days. The ecommerce giant won out by largely stuck to the playbook it's honed over the past decade of running the sale: offering compelling-enough deals and a variety of perks to satisfy existing Prime members and drive more signups to its flagship membership program. Nothing new but it works: Amazon will continue to extend its share of US ecommerce beyond the 40% mark, per EMARKETER's forecast, and it thoroughly dominates US retail marketplace sales (~70% share) and US retail media digital ad spending (~77% share). My latest is an opinion piece for The Drum on how the Prime Day dynamics are extending throughout the year thanks to the proliferation of Amazon sale events both big and small. #amazon #primeday #ecommerce https://lnkd.in/gqBdMyHe

Amazon concluded its annual 48-hour sales event, Amazon Prime Day, reporting higher sales and more items sold compared to last year. Although specific numbers haven't been disclosed, Numerator provided an estimate on Thursday, indicating that the average household spent about $152.33. Interestingly, this estimated figure is lower than the 2023 Prime Day average household spend of $180.82, as noted in the Amazon Prime Day 2023 Recap Report released by Numerator a few weeks after the event last year. Numerator’s Amazon Prime Day Tracker gathered data from 93,513 orders, 35,588 households, and 188,000 items purchased. Additionally, the firm surveyed around 7,311 verified shoppers. The average order size was $57.97 (this was $58.41 in 2023). Amazon noted a record-breaking number of new Prime sign-ups, with members shopping deals from big brands like Sol de Janeiro, Apple, Dyson, and Ring, and small businesses like TruSkin, ALOHA, Blueland, and Native Pet. Independent sellers, primarily small and medium-sized businesses, sold over 200 million items. Amazon’s AI chatbot, Rufus, launched just before Prime Day, assisted customers with product inquiries, enhancing the shopping experience. Amazon US' sales hit $7.2bn on first day (16th July) of Amazon Prime Day. But how to use Prime Day for your brand in India? What does Prime Day guarantee - More traffic and more sales. Read deeper: 1. Higher % conversions: Because its an event where you get the best prices on Amazon for prime customers, so what we typically get is higher % conversions. 2. Higher sales velocity: More traffic + More % conversions = Much higher sales velocity. These 2 are CRITICAL to improve ORGANIC ranking of your product on Amazon. Hence Sale days should always be used to increase the 2 points to drive ranking on Amazon. What is the CON: The brand / account will bleed on those 2 days as discounts are high, bids are high, spending is high. But the key is if the brand gains ORGANIC ranking, the benefits in the coming weeks is much higher. If you can beat your competition on a high traffic sale day, the gains that follows will be much more lucrative. How are you planning to use Prime day for your brand? #AmazonPrimeDay #AmazonMarketing #Amazon #ecommerce #ecom

Beware of Prime Day Baits: Hidden Pitfalls of Amazon's Big Sale Amazon Prime Day, one of the most anticipated shopping events of the year, has come under scrutiny for practices that might deceive consumers rather than offer genuine bargains. Key concerns include "price-increase and list-price synchronization" (PILPS), the quality of products, and comparisons with cheaper alternatives on platforms like Temu. **PILPS: The Pricing Trick** During Prime Day, sellers are known to inflate prices shortly before the sale and then list these inflated prices as "discounted." This tactic, known as PILPS, misleads consumers into thinking they are getting a significant discount. Data from price tracking sites like CamelCamelCamel and Honey revealed that many products showed a higher price just before Prime Day, which was then "discounted" during the event, although the sale price was close to the regular price a few days earlier. This creates a false sense of savings and capitalizes on the urgency and hype of Prime Day. **Quality Concerns** Another issue is the quality of products sold during Prime Day. Reports indicate that a significant portion of Prime Day deals includes overstock, returned, or lower-quality items. A survey highlighted that nearly one-third of Amazon shoppers received lower quality products or experienced late deliveries at least once a month. This suggests that some Prime Day deals might not meet the standards consumers expect. **Cheaper Alternatives on Temu** Many shoppers have discovered that some products sold on Amazon during Prime Day are available at much lower prices on Temu, an online marketplace owned by Chinese commerce group PDD Holdings. For example, basic items like plain white ankle socks and generic phone cases were significantly cheaper on Temu compared to Amazon. However, Temu's lower prices often come with trade-offs in product quality, longer shipping times, and a higher risk of counterfeit goods. # Thank you Nikolai Ivanov for your submission!
