Priyanka Kher of Breakthrough Trust India on Leveraging Pop Culture for Social Impact At the "Trending towards Transformation - Leveraging Pop Culture for Social Impact" session at #RWS24, Priyanka Kher discussed the powerful role of #PopCulture in driving #SocialChange. She emphasized that pop culture significantly influences societal norms and highlighted Breakthrough India's use of #MusicVideos and #Storytelling to bring issues like #DomesticViolence into mainstream conversation. Priyanka shared how Breakthrough India's foundational music video, "Mann Ke Manjeere," challenged the perception of domestic violence as a private matter. This strategy, termed "using culture to change culture," involves collaborating with #ContentCreators to foster #GenderProgressive storytelling, aiming to influence young audiences aged 19-25. Their research reveals how #ContentConsumption impacts views on #GenderBasedViolence, underscoring the need for collaboration with creators to embed #SocialResponsibility in storytelling. 🔗 Watch the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/gg8M_svT Nirmala Nair Aniruddha Mahale Anirudh Saigal

🌏 India can become rich but not developed 🌏 Recently, I came across a disheartening incident that got me thinking about our society's approach to public spaces and respect for our athletes. After a popular concert at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the venue was left in chaos—littered with garbage, broken equipment, and alcohol bottles. This wasn’t just a mess; it directly impacted young athletes who train there. It’s frustrating to see our budding athletes, who sacrifice so much to represent India, left to clean up after an event they didn’t attend. This isn’t just about a concert or a single stadium—it's about our collective responsibility. Where Are We Headed? The concert attendees were mostly Millennials and Gen Z, people like us, who often advocate for change, inclusivity, and progress. Yet, if we can’t show basic respect for shared spaces, are we really living up to those ideals? Respect and responsibility go hand in hand, and they start with the little things—like cleaning up after ourselves. Who Do We Hold Accountable? Yes, the organizers bear a significant part of the blame for not ensuring immediate clean-up, but this also reflects on us as a society. We need to ask ourselves: are we part of the solution, or are we contributing to the problem? A Small Step Towards Change It’s time we rethink our actions and the impact they have on others. Next time we attend a public event, let’s remember that we share these spaces with people who rely on them for their dreams and aspirations. Showing support for our athletes doesn’t just mean cheering them on; it means respecting the spaces they train in. Let’s all do our part to make a difference, however small it may seem. Together, we can build a community that respects and takes responsibility for its spaces and people. 🌱 #SocialResponsibility #RespectOurAthletes #India #Millennials #GenZ #BeTheChange

“If you believe in living a respectable life, you believe in self-help which is the best help”-- Dr. B R Ambedkar ---The Constitution Day of India-- Let’s take a moment to reflect on how this living organic breathing document impacts our daily interactions. It isn’t just a historic artifact; it’s a silent guardian that ensures a promise. A promise to give wings to aspirations- to a local vendor who can sell freely in a democratic market; to every individual raising their voice on social media without fear; to demand timely public services; to dictate equality in workplaces; to file a complaint courageously. It’s a foundation that aspires to bridge gaps, break barriers, and thrive on inclusivity. Let’s just play our roles either by standing up against injustice, supporting those who need a voice, or simply respecting the rights of others- to uphold the principles of the Constitution and for an inclusive and equitable society. #constitutionday

As we celebrate their victories, we must also challenge the societal biases and structures that often marginalize people with disabilities. True inclusion goes beyond applause—it requires us to confront ableism, break down barriers, and create environments where everyone can thrive, not just in sports but in all aspects of life. Let’s honour their achievements by shifting mindsets and ensuring that dignity, respect, and accessibility are the norms, not the exceptions. #EndAbleism #InclusionForAll #BreakingBarriers #Paralympics #India #DiversityMatters #AccessibilityFirst #diversityandinclusion

Happy Children’s Day! 🌟 Today, we celebrate the joy, innocence, and boundless potential of children everywhere. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the little ones who inspire us with their curiosity and creativity. They remind us of the importance of nurturing dreams and fostering a world where every child can thrive. As we honor this special day, let’s commit to creating opportunities for all children to learn, grow, and achieve their fullest potential. Together, we can build a brighter future for the next generation. Empowering Future Generations through Strong Infrastructure Development 🌍 Investing in robust infrastructure is crucial for creating a sustainable and opportunity-rich future for our children. Here’s how: * Modern infrastructure promotes sustainable practices, reducing environmental impact and conserving resources for future generations. Green buildings, renewable energy sources, and efficient public transport systems are key to a sustainable future. * Well-developed infrastructure ensures access to quality education. Schools equipped with modern facilities and technology can provide a better learning environment, preparing children for future challenges. * Strong infrastructure supports healthcare systems, ensuring children have access to essential medical services. This leads to healthier communities and a better quality of life. * Infrastructure development creates jobs and stimulates economic growth. This provides families with better income opportunities, improving the overall standard of living and enabling children to pursue their dreams. * Developing safe and inclusive public spaces, such as parks and community centers, fosters a sense of community and belonging. These spaces are essential for the social and emotional development of children. * Advanced infrastructure enhances connectivity and access to information. This opens up new avenues for learning and innovation, empowering children to explore and develop their potential. By prioritizing infrastructure development, we can build a foundation for a sustainable and prosperous future, ensuring that our children have the opportunities they need to thrive. #InfrastructureDevelopment #Sustainability #FutureGenerations
