What does it mean to be a Child-Centred Nation? Our Innovation Lab Director, Jonathan Prosser, recently explored this crucial question in an article for The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce). He outlines how governments and world leaders can practically work towards truly becoming Child-Centred Nations. 📝 This week, Jonathan wrote to the nine leaders of the UK's main political parties, including the current Prime Minister, urging them to prioritise child-focused policies that would not only foster domestic growth and wellbeing but also serve as a world-leading asset in foreign policy and diplomacy, delivering transformational outcomes for children. Please join us in prayer that these letters will speak to the hearts of our political leaders. 🙏 In Jonathan's article, he draws on insights from global experts, identifying 10 thematic priorities to turn this vision into reality. Thanking the honourable citizens of Britain who are courageously standing against racism, fascism, and deep-seated hatred. Your actions show that Great Britain is far bigger than this. Let us come together in unity against racism and fascism. Let us choose love over hate, because diversity built Britain. We must not forget that these riots stem from unchecked racism and discrimination, fueled by years of spreading lies and hate about immigration, and unfairly blaming racialized communities as the root of the UK’s issues. This has fostered harmful stereotypes and prejudices, particularly against Black and Ethnic Minority groups. We must do better. Let us unite to end violence, stop knife crimes, reject race hate, dismantle racism, and put an end to the lies about immigration. *Diversity built Britain* #diversity #antiracism

Last week, a historic resolution was introduced in Congress to recognize, protect, and invest in Black Towns and Freedmen Settlements in the U.S. The degradation of the environment, infrastructure, and economic neglect for these communities contrasts with the historical success of grassroots resistance, emancipation, and justice. In honor of Juneteenth last week, let us continue to remember the rich history of Freedmen’s Settlements in the U.S. Over 1,200 Freedmen’s Settlements and Black towns were established before and after emancipation as safe havens from racial violence and economic discrimination. History is made within our present actions. By acknowledging the challenges of our nation’s past, we can build a society where all people (especially those burdened by structural racism) can thrive in a flourishing, multiracial democracy and economy. Thoughtful article by Chicago's Alderman Desmon Yancy a few days ago articulating the growing frustration of Black Chicago residents. This sentiment is also reflected nationwide as Black America is trying to grapple with the challenges that are plaguing our communities. With public safety, health, and housing challenges, our communities are seemingly confused with how resources are allocated and not feeling relevant only during election years. It is hard to believe that in 2024, Black Chicago is facing enormous challenges with food and healthcare deserts, chronic affordable housing shortages, and public health issues where your zip code determines your life expectancy. This is why I advocate for Black political leaders to develop a "Go To 2020 for Black Chicago". We know all of this cannot rest on a new Mayor and fresh City Council. However, I believe making strategic investments in addressing these chronic issues with visible and tangible projects and resources that Black Chicago will immediately feel and recognize. These immediate and consistent investments in housing, reversing the blight on commercial corridors, and reducing food and pharmacy deserts will give the results and impact that Black Chicago residents will support.

The recent outbreak of far-right violence across Britain serves as a stark reminder that the spectre of racism continues to haunt our society. As we witness the destruction wrought by these riots, it is clear that racism and xenophobia have no place in modern-day Britain. First and foremost, racism runs counter to the core values of equality, justice, and human dignity that Britain has long championed. Our nation's strength lies in its diversity, with people from various backgrounds contributing to our culture, economy, and social fabric. The racist ideologies fueling these riots seek to undermine this diversity, threatening the very foundations of our multicultural society. Moreover, racism and xenophobia pose significant threats to social cohesion and public safety. The recent violence has not only endangered innocent lives but has also diverted valuable resources away from addressing real societal issues. Instead of fostering a climate of fear and division, we should be working together to build a more inclusive and prosperous Britain for all. It is crucial to recognise that the challenges facing our nation – be they economic, social, or cultural – cannot be solved by scapegoating minorities or stoking racial tensions. Such simplistic and harmful narratives only serve to distract from the complex realities of modern life and prevent us from finding meaningful solutions to our shared problems. Furthermore, in an increasingly interconnected world, Britain's success depends on our ability to engage positively with people from diverse backgrounds, both domestically and internationally. Embracing diversity and rejecting racism is not just a moral imperative but also a practical necessity for our continued growth and prosperity. As we move forward, it is incumbent upon all of us – government, media, tech companies, and citizens alike – to take a stand against racism and work towards building a more inclusive society. This means challenging misinformation, promoting education about diversity and equality, and fostering meaningful dialogue across communities. There is so much more work that still needs to be done to combat racism in Britain! Stay updated: 👉🏾 https://lnkd.in/dinRjWYV

On this International Day of Democracy, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of justice, equity, and the power of collective voice. Democracy is not just about the right to vote—it’s about ensuring that every voice, especially those from marginalized communities, is heard and valued in the decision-making process. We believe that a true democracy is one where Black and BIPOC communities have equitable access to opportunities and are empowered to influence policies that impact their lives. Let’s continue to work together to strengthen our democracy, ensuring it is reflective of the diverse fabric of our nation. #InternationalDayOfDemocracy #BuildBackBlack #DemocracyInAction #EmpowerCommunities #FMSGlobalStrategies #WBBA
