Is there a better way to find secondary connections for a specific company other than filtering employees by connection type? As a job seeker, it would be 100x more efficient if I could select a target company and list all of my 1st connections who have 1st connections with the target co. resulting in easier to find referrals. Update: I've been told that if you apply first, a referral can't submit you in the referral portal. Here's why that shouldn't matter (in most cases)... A Netflix Director said that he had 100 internal referral submissions for a role he posted. He went with the recommendations of two leaders who spoke to him in person instead... 1. If it's a specific leadership role, the referral should be pinging the recruiter and hiring manager directly, not just using a portal. 2. If it's a general pool role with a team match, then the referral may not mean too much anyway unless they have worked with you directly. If you're not at a senior level, then by all means get a referral first. Try to find at least the recruiter or hiring manager to have them reach out directly. Some companies may have strict processes, so your mileage may vary, but at leadership levels, your referral should be talking to the decision-makers directly to be effective.
