🕺 Toyota Motor Corp. is making big moves in the electric vehicle (EV) market with a $1.4 billion investment in its assembly complex in Princeton, Ind. This investment will not only bring an estimated 340 jobs to the plant but also signals a significant step towards expanding Toyota's EV lineup. 🤩 While specific details about the new vehicle remain scarce, we know that it will be a large three-row electric vehicle, different from the upcoming bZ5X electric crossover slated for production in Kentucky. EV is not the future A few years back, when many renowned automobile companies announced their plans to go fully electric within the next 8 to 10 years, I had my doubts. I kept telling people that electric vehicles (EVs) wouldn’t be able to sustain as the sole future of the Automobile industry. Many argued that I might know about cars but lacked an understanding of "future technology" and business. But here’s the thing—our world isn’t ready to rely entirely on electric vehicles. Yes, EVs can coexist with other types of vehicles like petrol and diesel, but replacing them completely? That’s a stretch. At best, I believe hybrids might gain wider acceptance as a middle ground. Even Mr. Akio Toyoda, the chairman of Toyota, shares a similar view. He resisted prioritizing EV development, arguing that battery-powered vehicles were too complex and not as popular with consumers as some might think. Under his leadership, Toyota chose to focus on hybrid and hydrogen drivetrains, making significant investments in these technologies instead.
