Resume writing.... A skill which most job seekers wished they were taught in highschool properly. That's probably why I get asked ALL the time about what the ideal resume should look like. And here are 5 most common questions I get asked. 1️⃣ What should I be writing about? The key is to incorporate the essential keywords and skills relevant to the position you're applying for. Recruiters often use Boolean searches in extensive databases, so including top keywords related to the role can significantly enhance your visibility. By doing this, you increase your chances of standing out among the multitude of resumes recruiters review. 2️⃣ How do I incorporate my key achievements? Resumes with measurable metrics increase your interview rates. Try and include at least quantifiable achievements in your resume to showcase your skills. 3️⃣ How long should my resume be? The ideal resume length is 1 page for a junior to mid level professional, and 2 pages for a mid to late career professional 4️⃣ Picture or no picture? Most HR professionals would agree that resumes should not include a photograph. In certain countries, photos are even avoided due to compliance reasons. 5️⃣ Do I include my Linkedin profile? Your interviewer will likely check your LinkedIn profile before the interview—just as you might look them up. Having a well-crafted LinkedIn profile boosts your credibility and can help establish rapport, especially if you share any mutual connections! #jobadvisory #resumewriting #resumewritingskills #CVwritingskills #careercoaching

Know the difference between Functional and Chronological Resume? I bet many of you don't. Read this post and see it for yourself. What most job seekers follow Is the chronological format. In this format one writes their experience section in reverse order. From the current job to the first job. Chronological format is best for: --> You have a steady, progressive career path. --> You’re staying in the same industry. --> You want to showcase your career growth and stable work history. Now comes the mystery format- "functional resume format". Functional format can be used to emphasize your skills more than experiences. It shifts the focus from work history to skills and qualifications, organizing your resume by key competencies. Functional format is best for: --> You’re transitioning to a new field or industry. --> You have employment gaps or short-term roles. --> You want to emphasize transferable skills over job chronology. The right format can make all the difference in how you look in front of the recruiter. It gives you the power to make them notice what you want. Whether you want your career progression from entry to senior level or you want to showcase your expertise across various industries. So, choose wisely the narrative you want to show. PS- Consider reaching out if you need assistance with job search or resume writing. #Resumewriting #Resumewriter

📄 Should Your Resume Show Your Entire Work History? 🤔 One frequently asked question when creating a resume is, "How far back should my work history go?" Here is a brief guide to assist in your decision: 🔹 The 10-15 Year Rule: In general, it's preferable to highlight your most recent 10 to 15 years of employment. Usually, this amount of time is enough to show the reader your experience and knowledge without providing too much detail. 🔹 Significance is Crucial: Concentrate on jobs that are most pertinent to the position you're seeking for. Consider including any highly relevant previous roles you have held in a succinct manner or in a separate "Additional Experience" section. 🔹 Uniformity Is Important: Make sure your career development is shown in a logical manner on your CV. Notable omissions or discrepancies may prompt inquiries, so if needed, give succinct justifications. 🔹 Keep It Brief: Since hiring managers frequently don't have much time, be sure to be precise and succinct. Highlight the most memorable and significant experiences you've had. Keep in mind that your resume serves as a marketing tool to highlight your accomplishments and credentials. Make sure to customize it to showcase your best self on every application! Want assistance polishing your resume? 📢 Why your resume shouldn't be too lengthy as a job seeker! 📝✨ As a job seeker, it's crucial to understand the importance of a concise and impactful resume. Your resume serves as a gateway to your professional journey, and it's essential to make a lasting impression on potential employers. However, many job seekers make the mistake of creating lengthy resumes, which can be detrimental to their chances of securing an interview. Let's explore why brevity is key when it comes to crafting an effective resume. 1️⃣ First impressions matter: Hiring managers often receive numerous resumes for a single job posting. They have limited time to review each application thoroughly. Therefore, a lengthy resume may not receive the attention it deserves. By keeping your resume concise, you ensure that the most relevant and impactful information is easily accessible, increasing your chances of standing out from the crowd. 2️⃣ Focus on the essentials: Your resume should highlight your skills, experiences, and achievements that are directly relevant to the position you're applying for. Including excessive details or unrelated information can dilute the impact of your key qualifications. By being selective and focusing on the essentials, you demonstrate your ability to prioritize and effectively communicate your value proposition. 3️⃣ Time is of the essence: Hiring managers often have tight schedules and need to make quick decisions. A lengthy resume may discourage them from investing the time required to thoroughly review your application. By presenting a concise and well-structured resume, you make it easier for them to quickly assess your suitability for the role. 4️⃣ Professional resume services can help: If you're unsure about how to condense your resume effectively, consider seeking assistance from professional resume writers or services. They specialize in optimizing resumes to ensure they are concise, impactful, and tailored to your target industry or role. Investing in a professional resume service can significantly enhance your chances of securing interviews and landing your dream job. #ResumeTips #JobSeekerAdvice #JobSearch #ResumeWriting #CareerAdvice #LinkedInTips #ProfessionalDevelopment #JobSeekerSupport #OpenToWork #LinkedInProfile #ResumeHelp #JobSeekerResources #CareerSuccess #JobHunting #JobSeekerServices #ResumeServices #JobSeekerCommunity #JobSeekerTips #LinkedInNetworking #JobSeekerSupportGroup
