Probably the most important part of the peer review process, this section digs deep into what it takes to write a peer review report, which will be helpful to the author and ultimately to science. It discusses in depth the comments you make to the author, the do’s and don’ts of the same and the ethical considerations you need to be aware of. It discusses the confidential comments you can make to the editor and each of the decision recommendation you can make and what they mean.

Academic publishing tip 51: Working with peer review reports? Remember, one reader stands for a thousand readers. You may not always agree with the peer’s comment, but where they disagree with you, you probably left space for ambiguity, could be more convincing, or left a hole in your argument. You can still remedy this

As a peer reviewer, is it appropriate to ask an author to cite your own paper? If your research is relevant and could enhance the manuscript, does suggesting it cross an ethical boundary? Personally, I don’t prefer to do this, as I believe my research should stand on its own. An interesting paper that I have recently read, is titled "How to Convince an Editor to Accept Your Paper Quickly" by "R. A. Hites" and it was interesting. Unlike how, at first glance, it suggests that it is a joke, it's not. It somehow gives an idea to people with low experience (like me) about how to handle the submission of a paper and its publishing process.
