Immersive pop-up spaces. What’s not to love? Thank you, Tim, for your great post below. Putting coffee pop-ups aside, brand experience also works well for tough, hard, complex, difficult categories (for brands wanting to challenge (or even change) negative brand perceptions). Here are 3 such examples: For many customers, the only touch-point they have with their utilities are bills, or when things go wrong. For almost a decade our pop-ups meant we became the human face of British Gas connecting consumers in a warm and welcoming way to win better trust and preference. [+20 PTS – increase in NPS] Our Be Clear on Cancer pop-ups toured the UK talking to niche audiences about the signs & symptoms of cancer (talking about blood in pee/poo is not easy, but face-to-face makes it that much easier). [Results from 561 interviews: 1 in 6 people visited their GP post visiting the education roadshow]. For BP, our Green Lights All the Way campaign, positioned the retailer as a “beacon at the side of the road” - the bright green light that helps send people on their way ready and refreshed thanks to BP. Our pop-ups here gave consumers free treats and experiences in unexpected places, just when they needed them most. All three creative strategies were underpinned simply by 'surprising and delighting' consumers, alongside 'providing a service at a time of need'. In short, serve then sell.
