The Department of Defense (DoD) proposed a rule for CMMC 2.0 late last year, receiving over a hundred comments. The DoD is in the process of reviewing these comments, with a goal to finalize the rule quickly. Their goal is to ensure the final version is ready for Congressional review well before any potential shifts in administration, likely by mid to late May. For those who don't follow CMMC regularly, here's what to focus on: - Determine if and where you handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) within your systems. - Ensure you have a robust system security plan in place. - Conduct a self-assessment. This is a critical step in demonstrating compliance with the DoD's cybersecurity standards, a requirement under the DFARS 7019 and 7020 clauses. I do not believe we'll see a situation with CMMC like what we saw years ago with DFARS, where there was a last-minute panic by A&D companies followed by the government walking it back. #cybersecurity #CMMC #regulation
