Today’s reel features a warm-up that didn’t go quite as planned—it was probably our least successful of the season 😅 The idea was to spice up traditional volleyball peppering by adding a challenge: three times during the rally, one player would turn around, and their partner would have to hit the ball off their back while keeping it in play. It was a fun concept to add some ball control difficulties, but this proved to be a bridge too far for the team. In the video, you’ll see them failing over and over again. So, I’m throwing down the gauntlet to my followers—can you do it better than Team Germany? At the Great Plains beach volleyball 🏐 tournament in Omaha. I observed a few things with the players and I want to share that with you. When talent, skills, and will are equal, the x-factor is attitude. Your attitude shapes how you handle adversity. Teams that players stayed calm and focused in clutch moments or when the play didn’t go their way. Won all of the close matches. Teams that players were unsettled and lost focused in key moments lost every game. Everyone plays to win, but different factors always determine the winner of the match. Stay calm and focused. This drill is a fun, volleyball-adjacent challenge designed to disguise precise skill work as a competitive game. The team is split into "young guns" versus "veterans," and the court is divided lengthwise for the challenge. Here’s how it works: 1️⃣ Serve to a teammate sitting in a chair. 2️⃣ That teammate passes to another seated player behind them. 3️⃣ The second player passes to a server who sends it back over the net. 4️⃣ Repeat the sequence through both chairs twice and finish by catching the ball in a basket to score a point. Players rotate positions to stay warm, and the team with the most points after 8 minutes wins.
