Excellent discussion today on our Local Partnerships LLP Local Area Energy Planning Roundtable at EMEX London. We talked about the need for roll out of LAEPs across the country, requiring consistency of data inputs alongside work underway to support procurement standardisation, how LAEPs integrate and influence statutory plans, the new Regional Energy System Plans, Heat Network Zones alongside their role identifying future project pipelines. Key takeaways: - The need for multi-partner support with senior and political buy-in alongside community input - Ensure good governance is in place to steer the LAEP and it's outputs including co-benefits - Be sure to understand data ownership and data sharing agreements - Engage with Distribution System Operators and National Energy System Operator/RESP teams to influence their planning - LAEP data will be an important part of RESPs alongside NESO's work on the Strategic Spatial Energy Plan - The Plan on a Page is a key document for engaging and influencing political leaders - It's important to consider what happens when the LAEP is produced and build implementation into your plans at the outset. And don't underestimate the resource required - LAEPs provide identification of local project pipelines if the data quality and granularity supports this My thanks to co-hosts Chris Brierley James Johnson Tom Worthington and to the Local Authority colleagues who joined us.
We're at EMEX London today and tomorrow as sponsors of the public sector networking area! 💚 Come and have a chat with our experts in the climate team, pick up one of our free guidance booklets or join one of the public sector roundtables on adapting to climate change for local authority assets, development of renewable energy generation, property decarbonisation and more. 💬 "The war caught us by surprise. Water and sewerage networks were damaged after air raids and bombing. There were street battles not far away, and there were also air raids. The equipment was simply out of order," recalls Anatoliy Sahach, Director of ME Miskvodokanal of Sumy Region Council. 📍 As part of Power Up! Project the company received a grant from East Europe Foundation to purchase energy-efficient equipment. Watch the story of Громадське | hromadske.ua to find out how the Sumy Water Utility Company works today and what the grant funds were spent on. ✅ The grant given within Power Up! project implemented by East Europe Foundation with the support of the program Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Government of Germany and Switzerland.

It’s an exciting time for the clean energy industry in BC! Generate 2024 is a great opportunity to join us as a sponsor, speaker, exhibitor, attendee and to discuss important issues related to the BC Hydro’s Call for Power and our province’s clean energy future so that we bolster our ability to attract new and increased investment, cultivate meaningful partnerships and create economic opportunities in our province while taking climate action. Clean Energy BC is Business and First Nations communities clean energy partnerships delivering affordable, environmentally-responsible, clean energy. Clean Energy BC and its members are in the right sector, in the right place, at the right time, with the right mission. CEBC Executive Director Kwatuuma Cole Sayers : “All the factors are in place to ensure our sector has the wind at its back and is ready to make a significant impact and deliver 3,000-gigawatt hours per year of renewable energy in clean electricity by 2030. Over the last fifteen years, our members have been building clean energy projects all over the world. We are a team that’s been preparing like athletes for the Olympics — and the moment has finally arrived to skate out onto the ice. We’re ready, and we’re excited. We’ve had our eye on this moment for a long time; we know we can be successful. As an association and a sector, we focus on producing clean electricity — providing electrons into the grid so that other economic sectors have more access to clean energy to meet their ESG targets. All these industries are crucial to the economic health of British Columbia, so our mission is to help assist them in this energy transition.” Register here: https://lnkd.in/g3S-wCVz

My thanks to the WA Mid West & Gascoyne Major Projects Conference 2024 for the panel opportunity to discuss 'opportunities and challenges as the region seeks to become a global player in the clean energy transition'. With many and varied projects at various stages of development, the region has enormous potential to benefit from the energy transition. Drawing parallels with the historic development of the gas and resource industry in the North West, and what each of the panellists are seeing day to day across the sector, panellists made the following points: Move as a region (not as individual projects or companies) and bring partnerships early into the equation, especially on common user infrastructure to share capital costs. Collaboration on offtake is essential between industry and governments, especially during early stages when prices are higher than willingness to pay. This can include diplomatic collaboration, and domestic and overseas offtake. Proponents need to consider local community needs up front and how to address adjacent social infrastructure development Thanks to Will Pulsford from Poten Partners, Martin Wilkes from RISC and Izzi Messina from Wood for joining me in fielding questions and delivering some engaging conversation and observations.

We are celebrating the announcement of the Blue Economy Regulatory Roadmap. By working together, we can make waves in the ocean industry, support businesses and communities and improve the health of our oceans. How? Our research and development is supporting the technological advancement of autonomous ship operations in Canadian waters. By improving their performance and safety, we are reducing both operating costs and environmental impact! Together with partners, we support the development of #OceanTechnologies for #HealthyOceans. #NRCOceanResearch #BlueEconomy Fisheries and Oceans Canada / Pêches et Océans Canada Canadian Coast Guard/Garde côtière canadienne Transport Canada - Transports Canada
Today, at the H2O conference in Halifax, Minister Lebouthillier unveiled the Blue Economy Regulatory Roadmap. This plan aims to boost sustainable ocean innovation and address regulatory and administrative barriers to support economic growth in Canada, focusing on marine renewable energy, spatial planning, autonomous ships, ocean tech and sustainable fishing. Our Senior Technical Advisor, Thomas Stenhede, brings invaluable knowledge and passion for #eFuels and its many applications. Last week, Thomas joined the Swedish Electricity Storage and Balancing Centre (SESBC) conference in Lund and held an inspiring talk about Liquid Wind, with a special focus on #eFuel’s capacity to function as #ElectricityStorage and backup to secure stable electricity access. SESBC is a research center with a focus on the development of new solutions for storage and system flexibility to guarantee continuous electric power balancing, contributing to making the transition to a low-carbon emission future a reality. To create a future energy system that is sustainable, the #ElectricPower system shall not be a limiting factor for society’s progress but available, secure and reliable at any place, at any scale, and at any time. #Sustainability #eMethanol #decarbonization #decarbonisation #energytransition
Thank you everyone who joined our 2nd SESBC conference! Thomas Stenhede is still going strong (as seen in the picture) and he held a much appreciated company presentation about Liquid Wind and efuel. As did Viktor Allgurén from The Port of Gothenburg and Rickard Andrén from Eon. We also want to give a warm thanks to Magnus Hindsberger coming all the way from Australia giving a fantastic keynote speach on "Energy transition down under: a balancing act". The second day also included group discussions that Oliver Ingwall King moderated with excellence. The two days ran smoothly much thanks to event coordinator Anna Abelius who received well earned praises from many participants. And once again a big thank you to Olof Samuelsson for hosting the event. We hope to see you all next year!
