The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade recently passed the Advanced Industry Investment Tax Credit! This initiative provides a 35% tax credit when investors invest in Colorado technology, defense, AI, and advanced manufacturing startups, especially those in rural areas. This is a really cool initiative that CO has implemented to support entrepreneurs. The credit applies to investors, but companies that may fit the criteria can also apply to benefit! “A 1% increase in the marginal tax rate for 90th percentile income earners decreases the number of patents and inventors by 2%. The corporate tax rate is even more important, with a 1% increase causing 2.8% fewer patents and 2.3% fewer inventors.” If people and companies have less money, they invent less and do less R&D. The new government is expected to unveil Union Budget 2024 later this month.
