Research at SMU’s Post

New grant for a potential game-changer for the U.S. health system. A $100,000 grant awarded to SMU engineering professors J.-C. Chiao and Ali Beskok will support ongoing research for their Lab-on-a-Chip test, which can detect immune responses to COVID-19 in just 2-3 minutes using only a drop of blood. The same technology could potentially be adapted to identify biomarkers for noninfectious, chronic diseases such as cancers, cardiac and coronary artery diseases. Thanks for the grant, Lyda Hill Philanthropies. Southern Methodist University
