Top 5 Safety Tips for Pedestrians: How to Stay Safe on the Road and Why It Matters for Everyone Ensuring safety on the road is crucial for pedestrians, who are especially vulnerable in traffic environments. Here are five major safety tips for pedestrians to follow: 1. Use Crosswalks and Pedestrian Signals: Always cross streets at designated crosswalks and wait for pedestrian signals when available. Crosswalks are marked areas where drivers expect to see pedestrians, making it safer for you to cross. Pedestrian signals indicate when it’s safe to cross, reducing the risk of accidents. 2. Stay Alert and Avoid Distractions: Keep your attention focused on the road and surroundings. Avoid using your phone or other distractions while crossing the street. Being aware of your environment helps you notice oncoming traffic, cyclists, and potential hazards. 3. Look Both Ways Before Crossing: Before stepping onto the road, always look left, right, and then left again to ensure that no vehicles are approaching. Even if you have the right of way, it’s essential to check for any vehicles that might not be stopping. 4. Wear Visible Clothing: Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially when walking in low-light conditions or at night. High-visibility clothing makes you more noticeable to drivers, reducing the chance of being overlooked. 5. Follow Road Safety Rules: Adhere to pedestrian rules such as not jaywalking, obeying traffic signals, and using sidewalks whenever available. If there’s no sidewalk, walk facing oncoming traffic so you can see vehicles approaching and they can see you. To all pedestrians, your safety is paramount. By following these simple yet effective tips, you contribute not only to your own well-being but also to the overall safety of everyone on the road. Remember, each person’s awareness and care make a big difference. #PedestrianSafety, #RoadSafety, #StayAlert, #SafeCrossing, #TrafficRules, #BeVisible, #WalkSafe, #RoadAwareness, #SafetyFirst, #PedestrianTips Rotimi Aroge

⛔ 10 Walking Safety Tips ⛔ ▪️ Be predictable. Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals. ▪️ Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available. ▪️ If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible. ▪️ Keep alert at all times; don’t be distracted by electronic devices that take your eyes (and ears) off the road. ▪️ Cross at cross streets at crosswalks or intersections, where drivers expect pedestrians. Look for cars in all directions, including those turning left or right. ▪️ If a crosswalk or intersection is not available, locate a well-lit area where you have the best view of traffic. Wait for a gap in traffic that allows enough time to cross safely; continue watching for traffic as you cross. ▪️ Never assume a driver sees you. Make eye contact with drivers as they approach to make sure you are seen. ▪️ Be visible at all times. Wear bright clothing during the day, and wear reflective materials or use a flashlight at night. ▪️ Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways, or backing up in parking lots. ▪️ Avoid alcohol and drugs when walking; they impair your abilities and your judgment. . . . #WETransport #SafetyFirst #GenerationsofSafety #PedestrianSafety
