Although the terms equity and equality sound similar, their definitions are quite different. It's essential to distinguish between the two, as the implementation of one over the other can result in drastically different outcomes for patients. Equality means that individuals are given the same amount of resources and opportunities regardless of need, while equity acknowledges that each person has unique circumstances and allocates the resources based on what each person needs to level the playing field. I was at a recent event and I think that it bears repeating. You can invite me to the party and even invite me to dance but if you invite me to have a seat at the table to participate in planning the party then we have a better chance of ensuring equitable outcomes for everyone. #Equality #Equity #HealthcareForAll
