Juniper Networks has invested in AI chip startup Recogni. The investment was part of a Series C funding round, which raised $102 million, though Juniper's contribution size was not disclosed. Recogni's AI chip is noted for its efficiency, using less power and space than competing products. The chip achieves hardware efficiency by performing AI inference through additions instead of matrix multiplications. The company has eliminated the need for lookup tables and quantization-aware training, simplifying chip adoption. Recogni plans to integrate its chip into custom rack-scale data center systems. Juniper will collaborate with Recogni to develop AI inference systems deployable in server racks. The startup targets hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprises, with plans for a next-generation chip by 2026.
