Juniper Networks has invested in AI chip startup Recogni. The investment was part of a Series C funding round, which raised $102 million, though Juniper's contribution size was not disclosed. Recogni's AI chip is noted for its efficiency, using less power and space than competing products. The chip achieves hardware efficiency by performing AI inference through additions instead of matrix multiplications. The company has eliminated the need for lookup tables and quantization-aware training, simplifying chip adoption. Recogni plans to integrate its chip into custom rack-scale data center systems. Juniper will collaborate with Recogni to develop AI inference systems deployable in server racks. The startup targets hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprises, with plans for a next-generation chip by 2026. Earlier this year, Hewlett Packard Enterprise said it would buy Juniper Networks for $14 billion in an all-cash deal, as it looks to spruce up the company's AI offerings. The AI startup is developing its second chip for generative AI with chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co and the inference system is set to go into production in 2026, Recogni said. The startup in August unveiled a novel computing method that could make its chips used to train and run artificial intelligence systems smaller, faster and less expensive to operate. The fundraising round was co-led by venture capital firms Celesta Capital and GreatPoint Ventures, the startup said; however, it did not disclose a valuation figure. Venture capital arms of BMW, Bosch and Toyota had invested in the AI firm previously. https://lnkd.in/gHqsB5Ek Recogni Hewlett Packard Enterprise Juniper Networks #AI #Generative BMW Group Bosch Toyota Motor Corporation Celestra Capital GreatPoint Ventures TSMC Another excellent article on Generative AI and ROI - https://lnkd.in/ggs3ze8J 7 CFO tips for yielding high ROI during the rush into generative AI - https://lnkd.in/gRvc2G3z #GenerativeAI #ROI #Security #DataQuality #Datagovernance #scaling
