🎉 I have something very big to share with you: Today, Make Sense w/ Lindsay T., Lady Engineer® hits 50 episodes! Join me as I sit down with Investor & Strategist Mellie Chow, MBA, P.Eng, PMP, CSM to explore her Top 10 Future Consumer Trends shaping the next 5-10 years. For each trend, I offer a 2024 prediction, highlighting the "baby steps" toward these future developments. This episode provides a comprehensive overview of diverse trends reshaping the consumer landscape for those of you short on time. 💥 One of the simple technology lessons learned from the first 50 episodes of Make Sense is clear: The disparity between tech-enabled predictions and technological realities is often huge. For instance, Retail Marketers predict an increase in product personalization, but the reality is that the fashion industry’s supply chain cannot deliver this at scale. Likewise, in this episode, we discuss “Electrification of Everything that Moves.” That may happen in the next 5-10 years, but we face a real hurdle in increasing the capacity of our power grid in 2024. 🔌 ❓How do you envision the future? ❓Which predictions are you most keen to understand more? ❓Which trends predicted in the past have fallen flat on their face? 👉 Explore Mellie’s Top 10 Consumer Trends by tuning into the episode or scanning the table I created for you in the Key Takeaways on my website. Robert C. Wolcott brought forth a compelling argument on how the "proximity revolution" is disrupting traditional business paradigms. But what exactly is the proximity revolution? Simply put, it's about bringing production closer to the point of demand, both in time and space, using digital technologies. This approach isn’t a logistical luxury; it's becoming imperative for success in today's competitive landscape. Tune in now at the link in the comments to listen or watch the full episode!

Wonderful podcast on product design and value creation, why product adaptability is better approach than planned obsolescence. Customer value and sustainability are the major reasons. Unfortunately fast fashion, electronics and many others have taken the path of planned obsolescence for revenue and growth, creating huge negative impact on ecology of planet earth. In the current state, I do not see many of these companies changing their path of product adaptability that would grow with customer needs. Only regulations and customer behavior change would force these companies (like mobile phone) to develop products that grow and has long term usage. Like the professor has stated in the article, there is gain for the companies as well, in terms of, 1. Profitability 2. Be with the customer throughout the life cycle. 3. Contribute towards sustainability. #Sustainability #productstrategy #customervalue #businessgrowth #productdesign https://lnkd.in/gy4dJDjk
