Large tech companies have been making big moves to cut costs—including cutting people. But what happens next? In my conversation with Mariah Hay, we talked about how these cost-cutting measures might impact innovation, the talent landscape, and even product quality. We discussed the risks of pulling back too far and the unintended consequences that could arise—not just for companies, but for the broader tech ecosystem. Watch the clip to hear Mariah's take on why tech companies need to be careful about the choices they make today—and what it could mean for the future. I have put the full conversation in the comments. #ProductManagement #TechIndustry #Leadership #UnintendedConsequences

"Inventors tend to invent things they find personally interesting, but that doesn't mean the world needs those inventions," says Bill Haskell, CEO of Innventure. To form an innovative company around a new technology — analyzing existing demand is vital. "We’ve refined our procedures over the years, and today, our team of serial C-Suite executives relies on this proprietary systematic process to build high-value companies," says Haskell. Calling all Technical Founders...Your technology might be brilliant, and your vision revolutionary. But here’s the reality: if your story doesn’t resonate, your innovation may not get the attention it truly deserves. I’ve seen it time and again—passionate Founders (rightly so) get so immersed in the mechanics of their technology they lose sight of the most important part: the impact it has on the people it serves. And when that happens? It becomes a struggle to connect with non-technical leaders, especially the C-suite executives you want to provide value to. Without a clear, benefits-led story, even groundbreaking startups can face challenges securing the growth—and funding—they need. The good news? A great story can bridge that gap. When you humanize your technology and focus on the value it delivers, you can captivate the decision-makers who matter most. The work of helping Founders get unstuck so the full potential of their story translates to growth has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had since shifting to fractional leadership. #HumanizeTechnology #GrowthStrategy #VisionToValue

Like many of you, I’ve worked in tech for most of my career and have experienced a range of leadership approaches and styles. As I have grown in my career and stepped into leadership roles, I have tried to be intentional about adopting the approaches and practices that I observed have been the most effective in inspiring, motivating and empowering people to do their best work. This article about “Founder Mode” and the rise of authoritarian leadership in Silcon Valley and the consequences for our democracy resonated with me and so I wanted to share this with you. Let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/gE-NMW2Q

There is chatter pretty much everywhere I turn these days about #foundermode, based on Paul Graham's recent article (first comment), which is by itself is based on Brian Chesky's talk at YC. While it is clear where Paul is coming from, founders need to be all-in and have the ability to focus on details, however, I also believe the concept described is quite misleading, founders are not "one size fits all", there is more than a single recipe for success. Some junior founders have no managerial experience and little clarity on how to build the company in the beginning and so they focus on every detail (Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Kevin Systrom and many others) Some founders come with profound networks and organizational experience and are great at attracting great, experienced leaders in their fields (Shlomo Kramer, Assaf Rappoport, Marc Benioff, and many others). Some leaders have clear, long term, strategic vision and are able to raise a large round permitting hiring quickly and fast scaling and some bootstrap and need to be laser focused efficiency and next funding round. Don't generalize all into a single type of #foundermode, its misguiding.
