Sometimes just taking a deep breath and engaging in our playful sides is exactly what we need to reset and reengage in news ways in the business. Love this reminder Hayley that laughter, creativity, teamwork, and play can have a significant impact on our connections and our joy. #wellness #joy #teamwork #impact #BusinessPerformance
One of Transcend's team commitments is "Joy," and I truly experienced that during our Tri-annual meeting earlier this month. Jaci, Kevin, and Mike organized a scavenger hunt that included rollerblading, a gondola ride over Spokane Falls, and a merry-go-round ride - and those were just the first three stops! It was a fantastic reminder to embrace joy in everything we do… which is even sweeter when your team wins the competition! Special shout-out to Craig, Makenzie, and Kevin for that. 🥇 Here’s to more fun and memorable moments.

If you're like us, you want to make sure your team feels seen, valued, and appreciated but your mind is already racing to the next thing. Next time, try this: ⬇️ When you're finishing up a major project, take a few moments to recognize the people who really stood out and the overall team accomplishment. Incorporate short segments for recognition into meetings where you spotlight and appreciate people by highlighting their hard work and dedication in general but also calling out specific instances of going above and beyond. 🏆 It doesn't have to be fancy, but it should be meaningful. You'll likely find that taking time to celebrate is just as important (and healthy) for you as much as it is for your team.

We have thousands of women building up in the Cybersecurity pipelines, and we want those flood gates to open with Employers that will take them the rest of the way! Don't think about it. JUST DO IT! BE THE FIRST TO TAKE BOLD PLUNGES IN THE NAME OF YOUR TEAM! Women: Release your inhibitions! Let me see your excitement, for what's in front of you. A former Sales Manager in my past, just got a job at Crowdstrike She's now releasing her inhibitions, empowered. I feel like I'm about to jump out of my skin, bolder, and badder, more helpful to the world, when Employers receive women, instead of put hurdles in front of them. What Bright Lights can I put on the next bridge, to make life just a little more brighter for the world? When AI released, I leaped a second time. A company asked me to be open, be coachable into a new system. Illana Golan has been retreating with Richard Branson. How facinating that would be for me to tap some special people. I'm holding my feet to the fire, tired on my own frustrations with myself. I can drive like a machine, and then I can rest, at times. When my head spins, I have to use the ear seeds, massage and a hot tub to balance myself. I have a different process for working the mind, body and breathe. Truth is, your thoughts matter! In Sales, my Partners are an extension of me. Sometimes we might compete, but not if we're working it right, in good communication, and with a spirit that is good for the end users. We balance, support, and act as ONE TEAM! New learnings: a "one call close". You've never heard of it, I know. Me either. Not in Enterprise, I don't think, but I'm being open minded. Did you see that ZOOM took my advice on IVR? Its a new cloud offerring. Smartest move EVER! Its now REALTIME AI TRANSACTIONS EVERYWHERE. Yesterday, I had a first job interview in years. I always keep an open mind. The first question was self-sabatogging from a Hiring Mgr. It was, "Do you have a book of business?" Its a BIASED question toward having relationships with certain companies of which he could call out the names, specifically. You CAN'T do that anymore! My response was, "You're not giving me an opportunity to present the best of myself". He was set aback, and proceeded with the second question. It became a 30 min interview. I give him credit for his bravery to see a women. He's now someone in my fold to call on, for another reason in my Communities. I never throw opportunities away. I'll bring him value, and he will bring me value one day. This is a sales lesson, if you can't quite recognize it.

What a leadership lesson! What pool do you need to wade into first? Perhaps the new system, market, team behavior or framework? Leaders wade in first!!!

The TDCJ promotional video featuring Officer Elliot Ruiz sheds light on his career and experiences but also exposes the deep flaws of TDCJ. While Ruiz’s dedication may be sincere, the video is less about him and more about a system skilled at masking its true nature. TDCJ avoids discussions of rehabilitation and justice, offering instead propaganda designed to maintain a facade while perpetuating dehumanizing practices. What is notably absent is any mention of TDCJ’s mission: "to provide public safety, promote positive change in offender behavior, reintegrate offenders into society, and assist victims of crime." The incarcerated individuals central to that mission are rendered invisible, reduced to silent props in the background. This treatment reflects a system uninterested in rehabilitation and focused solely on control. The only indirect reference to the incarcerated comes when Ruiz says, "No matter what ‘they’ do to me." Who is “they”? The video’s ambiguity avoids acknowledging these individuals as human beings deserving dignity and a chance to change. This “us vs. them” mindset isn’t unique to officers; it’s ingrained in TDCJ’s culture, perpetuating division and undermining meaningful reform. Instead of addressing rehabilitation, the video prioritizes recruitment and retention, focusing on the struggles of staff while ignoring the humanity of the incarcerated. Ruiz’s story is meant to inspire new recruits, yet it sidesteps the truth of incarceration, erasing the voices and potential of those in TDCJ’s care. When Ruiz remarks that no one is perfect, he could have tied this sentiment to TDCJ’s role in helping people move beyond their mistakes. Instead, the video pivots back to his personal narrative, missing an opportunity to humanize the incarcerated and highlight the system’s rehabilitative mission. This omission feels deliberate; acknowledging the humanity of those incarcerated would mean admitting systemic failures. The video’s focus on the fears of corrections staff such as retirement highlights another imbalance. While staff concerns are valid, what about the fears of the incarcerated? Will they see their families again? Leave prison with hope? Survive the system? These voices are silenced, while staff concerns take center stage, reflecting a system designed to prioritize control over compassion. This video underscores how TDCJ and the corrections industry excel at herding people but fail at helping them. Images of silent incarcerated individuals walking in the background are a stark reminder of this reality. Rehabilitation requires more than rhetoric; it demands action, change, and humanity. Yet, TDCJ’s focus remains on power and control, not transformation. If TDCJ claims to promote positive change, it must start by recognizing the humanity of those it incarcerates. Until then, videos like this will remain what they are: propaganda for a broken system.
Throughout his career, Major Elliot Ruiz from the Holliday Unit has shown strength and resilience, inspiring his team to achieve success. Driven by a passion for spreading joy and sharing knowledge, he leaves a lasting impact every day, making a difference in the lives of those around him. 🌟

Never when we sat down for that coffee all those years ago did I think we would end up here. Very proud of all that we have achieved over the past two years, the incredible team we have and the wonderful group of clients we have built. Smartest, most genuine, hardworking bloke there is. Honour and privledge to learn and spend majority of most days with you! Could write a list as long as the Nile about what I’ve learnt from JB, here’s 5 points that first come to mind; 1. Listen, listen more, take notes, summarise in writing, engage any expert you can to upskill and better understand the problem, turn the world over to find the most powerful solution. 2. If you find yourself with a few spare minutes having finished a meeting early, driving or walking to lunch, spend this time calling your team members to check in, this will be invaluable to both you and them. 3. No matter how busy you are, always make the time to stay connected and engaged with your network, a quick text is all it takes. 4. Respect and celebrate the achievements of our peers, their success makes us better and drives us forward as an industry. The quote I love from JB most is, “there’s enough clients out there for everyone.” 5. Always remember, we aren’t saving lives. Your family and your health always come first. One of a kind JB.
