I posted recently that Wales had pulled out of the process to create a UK-wide #DespositReturnScheme. It appears that the Welsh Government did not request an exclusion to the Internal Markets Act, as the UK Government indicated it would not be able to consider such a request “within the time necessary” for Wales to join the joint process of appointing a Deposit Management Organisation (DMO) for the four nations’ schemes." Whilst England & Northern Ireland remain steadfast in their commitment for a cans & plastics bottles DRS, it is good to see The Scottish Government publish their position that "We are committed to realising the economic and environmental benefits a DRS can bring and have therefore agreed to move forward with a DRS in Scotland that does not include glass on day one." There's loads of good arguments for and against adding or excluding #glass from a #DRS.
