Factory of the Future 🌿 It's Sustainable Tuesday in the Netherlands, the perfect opportunity to shine a light on our groundbreaking E2E concept 💡 Developed by Tummers and still evolving as we speak, the E2E concept represents a transformative approach to sustainability. By harnessing our own developed and patented technology, this concept converts emissions into energy, empowering our customers to build a production process that is not only future-proof but also sustainable and cost-efficient. Last year, we introduced two pioneering machines: the E2E SteamClosure and the E2E FlowCondensor. But this is just the beginning! We are currently developing even more innovative E2E solutions, with exciting updates expected later this year 🤩 Together, we want to take another a significant step towards creating the emissions-free factory of the future 🏭 #tummers #development #innovation #sustainability #foodmanufacturing #potatoes #foodindustry #foodprocessing #processing #foodengineering #future #factoryofthefuture

Dismantling battery systems using the KR QUANTEC and thus recycling valuable components? This was the focus of the joint research project “DeMoBat” with Fraunhofer IPA. 🚙🤖 E-mobility is an integral part of the future of the automotive industry. But more electric cars also mean more used batteries. They currently have an average lifespan of around ten years. However, in order to recycle a battery, it must first be dismantled. This is the only way to recycle the individual components - a complex and life-threatening process. 🔋♻️ These sound like challenges that are perfect for a robot-based solution: The use of robots reduces the shortage of skilled workers, minimizes the safety risk for employees and ensures that battery recycling is also economically viable through efficiency. 👏 "We have built Europe's largest test facility for dismantling batteries here. And we have shown how automation solutions can play a decisive role in making e-mobility even more sustainable,” explains Anwar Al Assadi, Group Manager at Fraunhofer IPA. As a global company, you depend on global transports to get raw materials in and products out. That will not change. What we can change is how we do those transport. Recognizing that air transport emits 60 times more carbon than ocean shipping and realizing transports are a significant part of our overall emissions, #Cytiva has initiated a program to move away from Air shipments. Example 1: Together with Alvotech we decided to minimize their environmental footprint for a shipment from Sweden to Iceland by transferring from air to ocean shipping, saving 81 tCO2 Example 2: In a Kaizen at our Umeå site we managed to shift inbound shipments from European suppliers from air to road, saving 110 tCO2/yr Air is also the most expensive mode of transport, if you would be more of a finance person than a sustainability person. If you want to reduce your scope 3 impact and reduce logistic costs. Let´s stay on the ground!

Today, we highlight Dagab a key logistics stakeholder shaping a more sustainable transportation future. Dagab is an inspiring example, working towards a fully fossil-free transportation fleet by 2025, showcasing how smart solutions and automation can drive change 💫 🧐 Optimizing their entire supply chain Dagab's commitment to efficiency and sustainability reflects the same values we prioritize at Elonroad. By reducing unnecessary routes, optimizing packing processes, and utilizing the latest technology, they demonstrate that sustainability and operational efficiency go hand in hand. 🚚 A system that optimizes both loading and driving Dagab is currently 95% fossil-free, with only 5% left to reach 100%, which they expect to achieve by 2024; it operates on fossil-free alternatives such as rapeseed oil, ethanol, bio gas, and electricity. As Dagab transitions to more sustainable vehicles and fuels, they’re also working on reducing fuel consumption through a system that optimizes both loading and driving. This system enables efficient load planning and route optimization from warehouse to store. To further minimize climate impact, all drivers receive training in “eco-driving,” their progress is tracked in a specialized system, rewarding the most environmentally efficient drivers. 🛑 Sustainability requirements for fossil-free external transports by 2025 Approximately half of Dagab's transports are carried out by external partners. The major challenge is ensuring that all their outbound traffic, meaning everything that goes from our warehouses/terminals to stores, is fossil-free by December 31, 2025, including everything operated by their external partners. Given the large volumes, Dagab collaborates with these transport companies to influence and set sustainability requirements. They share their expertise in green transport and ensure all external transport partners have a transition plan for fossil-free fuels. Additionally, Dagab requires partners to optimize their deliveries, avoiding multiple trips to the same area daily. This proactive approach helps Dagab indirectly reduce the impact of these transports on the climate. Dagab’s collaboration with external partners is a testament to the belief that change happens through collective effort. It mirrors our shared commitment to sustainability and the understanding that we all have a role to play in reducing our environmental impact. Their insistence on sustainability requirements in partnerships is a perfect example of how we can all contribute to reducing climate impact across the industry 👏🏻 💚 #Sustainableogistics #Fossilfree #Greentransport #Sustainability #SupplyChain #Sustainablefleet #Futureoftransport #Electrification
