🔋 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐕𝐬! A recent study in Nature Energy shows that realistic, dynamic discharge profiles – which mimic actual EV driving patterns like stop-and-go traffic or regenerative braking – 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝟖% compared to constant current discharge profiles. Why does this matter? EV battery aging is heavily influenced by real-world usage patterns. Dynamic cycling, like what long-haul EV trucks experience, results in slower degradation and better lifetime performance. This research challenges traditional battery testing methods and highlights the need for realistic load profiles when developing next-gen battery chemistries and designs. At Milence, this is particularly relevant as we design and operate charging infrastructure for long-haul EV trucks. Longer-lasting batteries mean fewer replacements, reduced operating costs, and more reliable charging demands, directly impacting how we plan and optimize our charging networks. #Innovation #EVCharging #BatteryTechnology #Sustainability #LongHaulEVs #Milence EFC: Equivalent Full Cycles
