Resilience is something you earn for yourself rather than a natural talent. I’m sure everyone has had a moment in their career that put them in the resilience “red zone” - mine was during the pandemic doing crisis response. In this ep Annie and I share ours honestly, how it’s taken a longer time than you’d expect to process these experiences, and the things that have helped us strengthen the resilience muscle. Knowing the signals, active management, long term mindsets and more - you'll find it in this ep. There are also some excellent resources in the show notes too - in particular an exercise I learned at a mental health first aid course for stress management, and support for those whose experiences might need more professional support. We hope you find something useful amongst it all, and that there’s a bit of self care carved out in your weekend ✌️ 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/e_9EK4Wc 🎧 Apple: https://lnkd.in/e9jq-iDt #resilience

Resilience is not something you just 'have' or 'don't have'. It's learned, and it can be worked on over time. The most inspiring people I've worked with inspire me with their resilience, over and above anything else. It's a real skill. In another honest chat between Rebecca Ellul and I, we share strategies which have improved our resilience. We also talk about our personal experiences of not feeling resilient, and how we've recovered from those. My personal reflection is to take a much longer term perspective on what happens day to day. I have a different approach to tackling work #anxiety that may go against the usual advice you hear – no deep mental health talk, just a practical approach that's been a game-changer for me. Anxiety at work is super common especially when you’re an #entrepreneur, what I’m going to suggest may work for other forms of anxiety as well but i cannot advocate for its effectiveness: My Solution has always been: Distraction. I know, it sounds counterintuitive. People are always talking about staying focused, but hear me out. Breaking out of that anxious state can be tough. You need something really strong to snap out of it. The idea is that something that feels overwhelming tends to lose its power when we shift our attention elsewhere. Then, when you come back to the problem, you're in a better mindset to tackle it. Distraction can be a powerful tool if you know how to use it. Here are a few things that work for me: 1. #Duolingo: It's fun, and you end up learning something new. 2. Mini #Podcasts: If the topic is interesting, it can give your mind a good break. 3. Netflix: Okay, I'm not saying binge-watch, but having a short series handy can be a quick fix to snap out of it. Sure, there are healthy ways like walking or exercising, but let's face it, you're not always in the right place for that. Quick trick: if you don't have enough time: Take a long deep breath, and on top of it take another breathe, it can be very small but it has to double breaths and then long exhale - x3 It usually works for me. How about you? What's your go-to for dealing with work anxiety or changing your state of mind when in disarray?

Today's pressure to be happy, including from social media, can be stressful. Here's a definition to make it less so: happiness is feeling content with occasional joy. In other words, happiness is not a constant state of positivity, high energy and nonstop smiling. For most, happiness comes and goes like weather systems—sometimes it’s sunny and sometimes it’s overcast. There’s nothing wrong with pursuing happier, and when unhappiness persists for weeks and impairs productivity and enjoyment of activities, talking with a mental health professional is a really smart step. More de-stressing happy talk is in this enlightening episode of The Chill Factory podcast called, Are You Happy Enough? with my guest and happiness expert Tracy Brower, PhD: https://lnkd.in/e8pD_mH9 #stress #stressmanagement #mentalhealth #anxiety #anxietyrelief #happiness

"Happiness is elusive if you can't see it." Negative thoughts hold a lot of power and can make happiness feel obtainable. Happiness and joy are accessible and within your reach, but you definitely won't find it if you don't believe it is possible. Prioritizing your mental health is a great way to take a step toward the happiness that you deserve. Does every cloud have a silver lining...? According to this proverb "Every difficult or sad situation has a comforting or more hopeful aspect, even though this may not be immediately apparent". The problem is that not everyone can look up or around them to find those comforting or hopeful aspects of life because challenges can weigh people down to look down, feel down, and heavy. It's even worse when you switch on social media and see everyone else looking happy and successful. You end up singing "Why does it always rain on me" 🤔 ⏺ I believe the statement is not about circumstances but about decisions to choose what to focus on. ⏺ It is about creating a stable situation where when you look within, you can find foundations you have already laid to help you in times of darkness or challenges when life is forcing you to look down. ⏺ Then you can create the outward circumstance that enables you to keep your chin up. ⏺ From within, you can dig deep to see those silver linings from without ✳ Introverts need to do more to keep that inner life and dialogue positive. ✳ That is why daily mental health habits are critical for introverts. ✳ Your energy comes from within, your outlook on life is shaped from within, and joy and enthusiasm for life and work come from within ▶ Have you checked out the latest episode of my Quietly Confident Introvert Podcast? 5 Introvert Mental Health Challenges -Why and How to Handle Them Catch the full episode https://lnkd.in/gpFMwspG #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthawareness #introvertchallenges #introvertcoach #thevisionaryintrovertedwoman

How Does Maintaining Healthy Mental Health Help You Achieve Your Goals Faster? 🚀 🚀 It all begins with having a stable mindset. But why do all the experts constantly emphasize staying focused? Is it really that important? Many of us don't give much thought to this, but it's the foundation of everything. Here are some good practices that have helped me achieve my goals more quickly (including my job search) 1. Daily Journaling: Write down affirmations about your goals. 2. Consume Positive Content: Keep your mind healthy by focusing on positive material, which helps clear out negative thoughts. 3. Spend Time in Nature: Make it a habit to connect with mother nature daily. 4. Practice Self-Talk: Engage in daily positive self-talk. 5. Listen to Motivational & Manifestations Podcasts: They help guide you toward the right actions. 6. Eat healthy food : Its directly proportional to your well being #MentalHealthMatters #GoalSetting #MindsetMatters #PositiveThinking #SelfImprovement #PersonalGrowth #DailyHabits #Motivation #SuccessMindset #Manifestation #HealthyMind #StayFocused #Wellbeing #JobSearchTips
