Thrilled to share this study on Other Effective Conservation Measures (OECMs) which are designed to achieve long term and effective conservation outside of protected areas. It offers valuable insights for anyone focused on achieving global biodiversity goals. Take a look!
A groundbreaking assessment in Frontiers in Conservation Science provides the first global analysis of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) and their role in achieving the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Target 3. The study reveals key governance and management statistics that differ from initial expectations and offers important recommendations for practitioners as OECM recognition grows rapidly worldwide. The paper was led by Harry Jonas, managed by Ryan Zlatanova, and contributed to by colleagues from WWF, UNEP-WCMC, and a number of other institutions.
