People view women’s and men’s professional success differently when organisations commit to gender equality initiatives, new research reveals by WZB Berlin Social Science Center and the University of Cologne. The study showed that when companies value women’s advancement or equal opportunities, women’s success is less likely to be judged as fair or attributed to intelligence and effort than when companies emphasize performance and uniform assessment standards. In contrast, people believe intelligence plays a more decisive role in men’s promotions and view men’s promotions as fairer when organizations value performance principles. Excited to share the first progress report for Pacific Women Lead. It tells the story of how partners are working to promote gender equality in the Pacific region. Read here https://shorturl.at/ahwB1 for details. What's cool about this report is that it is informed by 70+ stakeholders who joined the first Pacific Women Lead Annual Reflection and Analysis workshop. They got together, analysed the data, and used it to learn and make recommendations for the program. I'm really happy that the process we took valued the knowledge and expertise of our stakeholders when evaluating progress. It's great to see Pacific/local wisdom and knowledge being respected. Have you taken or seen other programs use this kind of approach? Keen to hear your thoughts and experience. #stakeholderledanalysis #Pacificknowledge #Pacificexpertise #valuingPacificknowledge #decolonisingMEL

This month is dedicated to eradicating those biases and teaching people the indispensable role of women in society. #genderequality #genderequalitymonth #teachequality #healingarts #expressivearts #endsexualtrauma #humantraffickingawareness #endhumantrafficking #enditmovement #womenempowerment #arttherapy #healingptsd #traumasurvivors #survivorart #traumainformed #healingisnotlinear #survivorsupport #enditnow #survivorhealing #hagomel

Have you been a victim of unconscious bias? As a female engineer, I’ve certainly experienced it before. My blog, Gender Equality in the Workplace, discusses this and other barriers that mean the glass ceiling is still in place for female engineers and what we can do to keep breaking it down. Unconscious bias can be a hard thing to navigate. Perhaps you could share how you have dealt with it to help others facing the same? https://lnkd.in/eRihX7pf #uncosciousbias #genderequality #worklife

🎯This year, even my perspective on Women’s Day has shifted. I advocate that instead of confining consideration every year to March 8th - International Women’s Day, why not extend it every day? Let's focus on meaningful actions beyond events and parties. Throughout the year, let's : 1. Address gender equality, 2. Support women-owned businesses, 3. Advocate for gender equality laws, 4. Provide access to women's healthcare, 5. Champion women's leadership, 6. Challenge stereotypes, and 7. Actively involve them in decision-making processes. Let's listen to their voices. Here's to a Happy Women's Day, not just for now but for the future.
