🤔 Did you know you can give the same alias to multiple Measures in Tableau?   👆 Almost.   Say you have 2 or more versions of a Measures with a different aggregation or LOD, but you want then to have the same label on different worksheets for whatever reason.   🚫 Tableau will not allow this.   🪄 Unless… you use an old developer's trick: just put a space on the end.   I've done this with 4 versions of FTM (free throws made) in the example image.   Tableau will typically trim the spaces on the Header labels, so in these cases sizing does not matter.   Simple, but effective.   🏗→🧠 Build to Learn!   💭🚶♀️🚶♂️ Follow for more.   #tableau #data #analytics #VizoftheRay

❓ Have you ever wanted a small legend based on different Measures?   This was a little bit challenging.   It's basically tip number 5 in phdata's "Enhancing Tables in Tableau".   ✔It's a dual axis chart of 2 continuous constants to get the spacing right (0.1 and 0.05). You may need different values. ✔One is set to circle ✔The other Waterfall - that was the difference that made the difference in getting the "label" not to overlap in a small space. ✔Lastly, each of the 5 measures also has Custom Number format with a specific prefix. ✔Font is set Courier New for equal spacing.   It took me longer than I care to admit to really figure out what was going on in Luke Stanke's example, but it eventually clicked.   🏗→🧠 Build to Learn!   💭🚶♀️🚶♂️ Follow for more.   #tableau #data #analytics #VizoftheRay

📝 Here is a Tiny Tableau Tip for Tuesday regarding workflow.   📃 If you are going to make a verbose entry in a tooltip with lots of editing, do it in a word processor and then paste it to your tip.   ❓ Why?   ⚠ If you accidentally hit Esc or the close X while editing a tooltip, Tableau simply discards all your changes.   😲 No prompt. Weekly Wins Update: Excited to wrap up the week with a new skill under my belt—creating a Funnel Chart in Tableau! 😄 It wasn't all smooth sailing, though. This morning, I ran into the “Unable to create extract” error while connecting my dataset, which caused me to lose all my charts. After some trial and error (and a bit of patience!), I managed to troubleshoot the issue and reconnect my data. From there, I dove into building my first Funnel Chart, which turned out great! 🤔  Did you know you can have separate legends for each measure in a Tableau table?   🙈 But, you probably don't want EVERY metric to be colored; that would be an eyesore.   For the majority of the legends, you can basically turn it off by: ✔️ Selecting Palette: Custom Diverging ✔️ Selecting white for both end points ✔️ Check Stepped Color and selecting a value of 2.   💭 I would be nice if Tableau had a way to do that in one step.   It would also be nice if Tableau had a row-banding option within separate legends.   🏗→🧠 Build to Learn!   💭🚶♀️🚶♂️ Follow for more.   #tableau #data #analytics #VizoftheRay
