Completely Preventable Most of incident are Preventable, Safety is not only a "Program or Policies ". It's a value and it's something we need to think about every time we accomplish a task. Be aware of our environment. Be aware of the inherent risks of the task, both on and off duty. If you do this, you can break the chain of events that always lead to an accident and ultimately prevent these accidents from happening.

Another Certificate received. Dropped object prevention is a key element of your safety management system, which should also include an appropriate level of investigation for near miss events, for reporting, trending and comparing performance. It is essential to understand that dropped object prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Wherever you are working, care must be taken to prevent dropped objects and to remove or report any potential dropped objects that you may come across.

Follow these safety practices this month, and throughout the year. 👇 1️⃣ Before each use, thoroughly inspect your ladder for any damage or defects. 2️⃣ Always ensure that your ladder is placed on a stable and level surface. 3️⃣ Keep either two hands and one foot or two feet and one hand in contact with the ladder at all times. Knowledge is key in preventing ladder accidents. Stay informed and stay safe.

I have been reflecting that sometimes it’s hard to speak up and say that something went wrong on #Safety. By avoiding blame, we create an environment of openness and continuous improvement where we can look at what happened, the causes and how to avoid them in future. That way we can focus on preventing incidents rather than reacting after they occur. So when a near miss, good catch or safety incident occurs, or something is done really well, let’s get it out in the open - talk about it, examine it, learn from it and share that with others – it could save a life. At National Grid we call that Standing Up for Safety. #standupforsafety
