Why are you pitching at the pitch night? Ask yourself this when preparing for it. The last thing you want is to deliver a great pitch and then mess it up with the last slide. Make sure to be very specific about what you want from the audience. It might feel strange to ask for capital, but the last impression is often the lasting one. You don't want to close your pitch with a casual "by the way, this is what we want" impression. Allocate enough time to explain what you need, what it will allow you to do, and what you offer in return. If you don't ask for money but advice and introductions, then put that on the slides, but be specific. If you don't have an ask, you should probably not be on stage. Close your pitch with a clear call to action so everyone in the audience can decide whether or not they can help you.

So they said "yes" fast to your cold pitch? Congratulations. You just landed the kind of person who says yes to random cold pitches. Guess what's going to happen when they get hit up with a pitch that's sweeter than yours? Listen: You deserve what you attract. It's call the Law of Compensation. And if your entire brand is built around attracting fickle people who accept random pitches, don't be surprised when your only path to money is a churn-and-burn model that leaves a trail of disappointed people behind you. Check out this video. I'm explaining to my community the importance of taking the time to build legitimate relationships with legitimate players. Over time, you can build a reputation that holds weight with the best clients. You can definitely shorten the time required to a "yes" from them when you've built powerful Brand Equity. But if you don't have that established first, you're just committing to a Bottom-Feeder Doom Loop that no one recovers from. Unfortunately, that's what most people here are trying to get you to do. Throw this nonsense in the trash. Work every day on strengthening your relationships and forming new ones with legitimate players. You're a few taps of plastic away from this every single day.

Ever heard of the ramble scramble? That's what I call those chaotic, confusing pitches, usually from folks with tons of skills and experiences. They try to fit everything they’ve done into one pitch. The result? Total confusion. If you stick to one idea, you might break through. But if you try to pitch two at once? They will compete, and your message will get lost. So, keep it simple: one idea at a time. Wait for the green light before you dive into the next point.

We got rejected on our first pitch. Here's why that rejection was the best thing for us. Starting an agency is hard. Starting an agency with no plan? Even harder. I remember our first pitch like it was yesterday. We were excited. Full of energy. But that pitch? It was a disaster. Why? We didn’t have a clear vision. We didn’t know how to communicate our value. We were too focused on the hustle and not on the strategy. We tried to impress with enthusiasm, but we had no direction. No solid offering. But here's what changed everything: Instead of giving up, we took a step back and asked ourselves: ☆ What do we actually want to offer? ☆ Who are we helping? ☆ What value are we truly bringing to the table? Once we redefined our message and got clear on who we were serving, things clicked. Clients started to come to us, not because we hustled harder, but because we knew exactly what we were offering and why. ☆ The BIG lesson: Energy and passion are great, but without a strategy, they’re just noise. Clarity in your message and knowing who you’re speaking to is what makes the difference.

Founders, everyone communicates, but few connect. The single most important part of your pitch is the intro. It’s the first three minutes that need to capture your audience. Remember, whoever you’re pitching has to also sell your idea internally. The clearer your pitch, the easier it is for the investor. Keep it clear and simple. Don't draw outside the lines. I'm sure you have a million great things you want to say, but timing is everything. Let people ask questions about the things they want to expand on. Do not go for 15 minutes talking and lose their attention. Our attention spans are shorter than ever. The average attention span is now just eight seconds. That’s less time than a goldfish. This makes your opening pitch even more critical. Make sure you clearly articulate the business model and value proposition. Think of your pitch like a movie trailer. Trailers are designed to entice you, give you the highlights, and make you want more. Your pitch should do the same. Again, everyone communicates, but few connect. Use your time wisely. Captivate your audience from the start, keep your message clear, and leave them wanting more. This is how you turn a pitch into a partnership.
