https://lnkd.in/gcrE-2YM Heading to BKK to moderate a session as well as learn from other speakers on how we can progress CVD access in India and the region. Women, vulnerable populations and economically impoverished are at greatest risk and are exposed to both commercial as well as social determinants of health putting them in disadvantaged situations. For CVD access to become better it has to go beyond diabetes and HT screening, though both are good starting points. Point of care screening and diagnostics, using digital to improve last mile access and technology for remote monitoring are fast catching up as innovations, but how do we embed these innovations into public health programs? Most CVDs are time sensitive, how do we build robust response mechanisms? How do we improve investments. Many topics to discuss and deliberate on.

Advances in life sciences, medicine, and technology open opportunities to find new ways of keeping people healthy, such as new diagnostic technologies, advances in genetics and RNA and mRNA therapeutics. If precision health is to fulfill its potential #ForEveryChild, it needs to address the risk of exacerbating current health inequalities and evolve to a vision of health and wellbeing that is inclusive and comprehensive. Practical actions will help precision public health to align with the vision of #SDG3 and amplify its potential for the international development sector. Call #FrontiersSocioeconomicInequalitiesDigitalHealth We welcome studies (analytical, descriptive, experimental, meta-analysis, observational, review, qualitative) tackling socioeconomic inequalities. Although socioeconomic health inequalities are well studied and there is a plethora in the literature on this topic, in the era of digital health, socioeconomic inequalities can exacerbate disparities if equity is not at the forefront of digital health solutions. Keywords: Socioeconomic determinants, inequalities, digital health, policies. Topic Editors: Lua Perimal-Lewis; Sónia Vladimira Correia; Evanthia Sakellari.

This is great! Addressing the high maternal mortality rates in Sub-Saharan Africa is crucial, and all avenues to combat this issue must be explored. In my research abstract, titled “The Use of a Digital Health Platform in Reducing Indirect Causes of Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Among Women of Reproductive Age Groups in Nigeria,” I delved into the impactful results achieved by a health tech company in Nigeria, mDoc. Through empowering women with essential knowledge and tools to increase their self-literacy and self-efficacy, we witnessed tangible outcomes such as reduced blood pressure among those with pre-eclampsia, ultimately lowering their risk of mortality. I'm enthusiastic about the potential partnerships and AI innovations that will continue to enhance healthcare accessibility and effectiveness, further contributing to improved healthcare outcomes for all.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, a high maternal mortality rate is exacerbated by a shortage of workers trained to operate traditional, high-cost ultrasound machines. Through our partnership with Kenya-based nonprofit Jacaranda Health, we’re researching how new AI tools can improve access to ultrasounds for pregnant people. Review No trend to rising rates: A review of Parkinson's prevalence studies in the United Kingdom Highlights • Parkinson's prevalence is projected to rise globally. • Of the 10 case finding studies published, this trend is not demonstrated in the UK. • No difference was identified between demographic groups, but this is underexplored. • More research is needed to understand accuracy of large healthcare datasets. "Racial and ethnic inequities in health and health care impact individual well-being, contribute to millions of premature deaths, and cost the United States hundreds of billions of dollars annually." This statement is the somber opening of an overview from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to introduce the organization's new report, "Ending Unequal Treatment: Strategies to Achieve Equitable Health Care and Optimal Health for All." In 2003, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released a report titled, "Unequal Treatment: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care." As a successor of the IOM, NASEM has now revisited this original report some two decades later, finding that substantial work remains. You can read the new report online, or download a PDF copy, from the NASEM website here: https://sames.ky/3xTHOCd

Closing care gaps to improve health outcomes. CarelonRx and Carelon Research examined mammogram screening rates among commercially insured women over 45, revealing that only 62% had received screenings, with notable geographical disparities particularly in the Western U.S. To address these gaps, they created zip code-level heat maps and collaborated with life sciences partners to implement targeted interventions in high-need areas. Read more on how we’re leveraging data to help close gaps in care. https://ow.ly/EKjk30sI7yH
