🌟🌟🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 🌟🌟🌟 It’s been too long since we’ve done one of these so let’s shine a light on our UX (and pushup) superstar Marcus Schermer Sejersbøll! Let’s get to know Marcus ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 🤔 Where are you from? ➡️ I live in Aarhus, but I am originally from Randers. Yes, you heard me. 🤔 How long have you worked at Plecto? ➡️ I have worked here since August 1st so about 9 months now. Time flies when you are having fun! 🤔 How long have you been in Denmark? ➡️ Almost 28 years 🤔 What professional skills do you like to focus/work on? ➡️ Everything that is UX research-related! I want to enhance my skillset when it comes to usability testing, interviewing customers, and most importantly: doing more quantitative analysis of user behavior! I truly love numbers which is also why our product resonates with me so much. 🤔 What attracted you to working for Plecto? ➡️ The company's ambitions and its journey are so compelling to be a part of. Also, the technical capacity and customizability of the product combined with good usability and a good user experience can take data visualization to new heights! Last and most importantly, the people: Support, understanding, constructive criticism, games, parties, workations, friendships… It's all on the menu here. 🤔 How many languages can you speak? ➡️ Danish, English, a wee bit of German, and If I count the 5 rehearsed lines that I remember from high school then also Chinese 🇩🇰 🏴 🇩🇪 🇨🇳 🤔 Do you have any hidden talents? ➡️ Absolutely! And I intend to keep it that way 🤫

Day 12 of UI/UX fellowship program with Metvy. Session by Raunak Ghosal, Senior Designer at Insanelygood (by Swiggy ) & Ex- Senior Designer at swiggy on MOBILE UI/UX DESIGN. The perceptions shared were really beneficent and considerate. Some key takeaways from the session were 🔍 3 scenario- micro tasking - they use devices in short, intense spurt -- eg to buy tickets 🔍 Local - they use devices to see what's happening around them 🔍 Bored- eg they surf news fees links while waiting. Also learnt about simplify navigation, restrict user inputs, dynamic island. The most relevant example was the user interface on airpods. Filled with gratitude for the golden opportunity to be able to learn from the professionals in the field. Awaiting to further increase my scope and executing these in upcoming projects.

Celebrating a Decade in the Design Industry 🎉 ⭐ This year, I’m thrilled to mark 10 years in the corporate world. It's been a journey full of growth, challenges, and unforgettable moments. Fresh out of Symbiosis in 2014, I joined InMobi Advertising, eager to make a mark in graphic design—a field not always well-understood or appreciated. Those early years taught me so much, and I'd like to share a few key lessons: ✅ Work-life balance is possible, and great workplaces often champion it. ✅ Teams offer tremendous value—learning from others is incredibly enriching. ✅ Global exposure can open up your understanding of business and audiences worldwide. ✅ Take part in company events and socialise; it’s a great way to connect and grow. My journey continued with wonderful experiences at Swiggy, Gameskraft, and Unacademy, each adding new perspectives and invaluable lessons along the way. Today, as I stand as AVP of Visual Design at HDFC Bank, I’m filled with gratitude, looking back on a journey that began as a junior designer and evolved through countless lessons, challenges, and inspiring moments. Each role has shaped who I am today and fuelled my passion to keep growing. Reflecting on this decade, here are some lessons I hold close: ✅ Hard work is essential, but never at the cost of mental health. ✅ Make space for life outside of work, and stay connected to mentors and friends you meet along the way. ✅ Never let work challenges overshadow the joy in your life—every closed door leads to a new opportunity. ✅ Design isn’t just a career—it’s a space where creativity and strategy meet, and it’s open to anyone with passion and drive to make a meaningful impact. In the words of Maya Angelou, which resonate deeply with me: "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." Here’s to the next leg of this chapter, with gratitude for the journey so far! #10YearsInDesign #CareerJourney #DesignLeadership #gratitude

Discover how design shapes behaviour! Join our upcoming "Designing for Humans" talk to learn how motivation, ability, and triggers impact user actions. The next round of talk is being taken up around mass product design where the details of broader HCI are taken up. We are super happy to have Mridul Gupta who is currently a Staff Product designer at Disney+ Hotstar and in his current iteration working on broadening the monetization sphere and aspects. Moving ahead in our journey of understanding how tech and design align in the making of products and services that cater to millions of folks. This involves keeping a keen eye out for the story being told by data and how the folks are responding to the design interventions on the platform. We had a brief discussion about how things were progressing and if some new developments in design had started to make their way into our work. He happened to have some time on his hands and was very generous when I requested to take up the talk for the initiative. Coming from a similar POV, I had an alignment bringing stuff that matters, back to the table. While designing for platforms that build value for a million numbers, 3 things are imperative: Uninterrupted Service, Quality of UX, and Consistent User Feedback Implementation. The user journeys and user personas may become, too generic or an outlier if the designers were to blink an eye in such cases. I extend my gratitude to him for accepting the invitation to the #voxago initiative. Looking forward to seeing you at the venue, for learning, honest conversations, fun lunch, and networking. 🎉 Celebrating Two Years of Growth at Jio Reflecting on my two-year journey as a UX/UI designer at Jio, I've realized that design is more than just creating intuitive and beautiful experiences—it's about communicating the "why" behind every decision. Ever found yourself navigating tough conversations with stakeholders? Here’s what I’ve learned and consistently apply to bridge the gap between our vision and their understanding: 🗣️ Effective Communication: Clear and thoughtful communication with stakeholders can steer a project in the right direction. How we present our ideas is as crucial as the designs themselves. 💬 Healthy Debate: Not all discussions will be smooth, and that's okay. Constructive pushback can help ensure that the user remains at the heart of our decisions. ⚖️ Balancing Opinions with Strategy: Design is subjective. While feedback is valuable, our role is to align decisions with user needs and business goals, not just to accommodate every opinion. 📓 Documenting Decisions: Keeping a log of design decisions helps avoid repeated mistakes and provides a reference for stakeholders questioning past choices. 📝 Rehearsal is Key: Practicing presentations boosts confidence and uncovers potential issues, leading to clearer articulation of ideas. More rehearsal, more ideas. 🧭 Facilitator Mindset: Viewing meetings as a facilitator helps guide discussions and manage feedback more effectively, focusing on the best outcomes rather than seeking approval. 🤝 Supportive Colleagues: If you are lucky, Having a supportive colleague who can ask insightful questions and support your rationale can be invaluable in validating your approach. 🚧 Handling Rejections: Not every idea will be accepted. Navigating objections with well-reasoned arguments is an essential skill. Mastering these strategies has been crucial in my design journey. How do you ensure your design decisions are understood? And what about documenting your process—does it get the attention it deserves? Share your experiences. #uxdesign #uidesign #userexperience #designthinking #productdesign #CareerGrowth

She landed a job within a week. When Rana and I first connected, she was eager to deepen her understanding of UX research but wasn’t sure how to stand out in such a competitive field. Over a few focused sessions, we delved into key areas that would set her apart: - Research Methodologies: We explored various qualitative and quantitative research techniques, ensuring she could confidently apply them in real-world scenarios. - Portfolio Development: Together, we restructured her portfolio to highlight her problem-solving approach, attention to detail, and the impact of her work on user experiences. - Interview Preparation: We practiced mock interviews, helping Rana confidently articulate her UX research skills and thought process. - Networking: I guided her on effective networking strategies, expanding her professional connections, and uncovering hidden job opportunities. - Case Study Development: We crafted detailed case studies that highlighted her research skills and problem-solving abilities, making her portfolio stand out. These learnings, combined with Rana’s determination, led her to secure a role that perfectly aligns with her passion for understanding user behavior and improving experiences. Rana’s success is a testament to the power of mentorship and the incredible potential within each of us. I’m proud to have been a part of her journey, and I’m excited to see where her career takes her next! If you’re looking for guidance on your UI/UX journey, let’s connect. As a product designer, I'm always on the lookout for exceptional user experiences that seamlessly blend functionality and thoughtfulness. Today, while taking a break from applying for full-time job roles, I found myself in a familiar situation – it was well past lunchtime, and I was craving something delicious and comforting. I couldn't muster the energy to cook something new. That's when I decided to give Uber Eats a try. I activated my 4-week free trial of Uber One and placed an order for some mouthwatering Indian food. What happened next truly surprised and delighted me! Upon successfully placing my order, I noticed that Uber had implemented a brilliant feature – sharing a PIN code with the delivery partner to ensure that the food reaches the right person. This simple yet effective solution immediately put my mind at ease, knowing that my order would be delivered securely and efficiently. As an end-user, I was thrilled with this thoughtful addition to the delivery process. But as a product designer, I was truly inspired! It's often the small, well-crafted details that make the biggest impact on user experience. Uber's attention to detail and commitment to creating a seamless, secure delivery process left a lasting impression on me. This experience reaffirmed my passion for designing products that prioritize user needs and go above and beyond to create memorable, positive experiences. I aspire to bring this level of thoughtfulness and user-centric design to my future roles! #UberEats #ProductDesign #UserExperience #Innovation #Inspiration #uber Uber
