On July 19th, I had the privilege of attending a networking event under the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) as a Student Ambassador. My responsibilities included ushering, managing registration, and providing administrative and logistical support to the IFoA staff onsite, alongside my fellow ambassadors. This event was an incredible opportunity to connect with numerous professionals in the actuarial field. One memorable interaction was with Farhanah Rafique, whose shared experiences and insights were extremely valuable. Witnessing actuaries from diverse backgrounds and companies all gathered in one place was truly inspiring. The professionalism and collaboration displayed at the event have motivated me to continue growing and pursuing excellence in my career. I'm grateful for this experience and look forward to applying the knowledge and connections gained towards my future endeavors. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

As I enter my 19th year at Lloyd, my tenure has officially become an adult! With this new milestone, I feel more empowered and ready to voice my opinions. Today marks a significant moment for me as I celebrate 18 incredible years with Lloyd, a journey filled with learning, evolution, and growth. I am deeply grateful to all the stakeholders, management, colleagues, and students who have been and continue to be a part of this journey. From starting with 8 employees and 100 students, we have grown to an institution with 800 employees and 9,000 students. Together, we have achieved quality accreditations, conducted high-impact research, and produced university rankers. We've created robust processes and systems that have become the foundation of our success. Working at Lloyd has been my passion, and I have poured my heart into building this institute brick by brick. Along the way, I have built invaluable connections within the industry, political, bureaucratic, and regulatory spheres, and made lifelong friends. While the journey has had its bittersweet and challenging moments, it has been immensely rewarding and fulfilling. I firmly believe that it is by God's grace, destiny, and the Almighty's blessings that all of this has possible. Most importantly, I have learnt that positions are temporary and organisations move on, just the mark you leave by the work you do and the relations you build along the way, remain. I have learnt to stay calm during storms, and matured to believe that there is always something to learn. I have realised that perfection is a myth and we have to let go, for peace of our own mind and those working with us. For me, other than the growth of the institute in all ways and the skilling of the students, maintaining a good culture and a cordial atmosphere for all individuals to thrive has been crucial. I believe together we can, and together we must. #Growth #Learning #Gratitude #Milestone #HigherEducation #Blessed Lloyd Institute of Management and Technology Pharm. Good financial advice academies focus on developing practical skills including soft and communication skills! Kudos to M&G Wealth who seem to be really focused on the practical development of trainee financial advisors. I’m loving hearing about the amazing work that Kenny O'Donnell FPFS, CII Certs (MP ER), MCSI, IMC, BAcc and M&G Wealth are doing Matthew Ings. Successful academies do far more than just focus on exam passes. 👍😊 The best of best focus on the practical application of the knowledge and building up trainee advisor confidence. 👍 Role plays ✅ Mentoring and coaching ✅ Goal driven financial planning ✅ Holistic financial planning ✅ I’ve said it before - passing our driving tests and becoming competent safe drivers are too different things. 🚘 You can be a diploma qualified advisor on paper but are you competent applying your knowledge in real client scenarios? 🤔 When doing your due diligence on financial advice academies please look under the bonnet to ensure that there is a very strong focus on the soft skills. 🙏These soft skills should be taught by a team of people who have been there, done it and worn the t shirt. 👕 👚 Learn from the best! 🤩 Exams are important but exam passes just provide the foundation! You must learn how to apply your knowledge for the benefit of clients in a safe environment! 📚 🤔 Build your confidence and skills to apply your new found knowledge. 👍😊 Great to see M&G! 🚀 #financialadvice #academy #traineefinancialplanner #roleplays #coaching #mentorship #practicalapplication

“It’s been my 5th case study competition and I still haven’t won”. That’s what one of my juniors said to me the other day. I’ll be honest – winning in case study competitions has to do a lot with your luck. So what’s the point of participating in them anyway? Even mere participation is a learning process for many. From gaining sectoral knowledge to brushing up your deck-building skills, case study competitions go a long way in building your profile! They showcase your problem-solving skills, leadership and ability to work in a team, which employers highly value. And this is what pushed me to get 10+ national-level podium finishes. Being a part of established consulting socs like 180 Degrees Consulting SGGSCC has definitely helped me gain exposure to such opportunities. One such opportunity lined up for you is Case-ette ‘24, their flagship event, commencing on 11th October. The best part about it? Get a chance to grab prizes worth ₹40,000! The worst part about it? Only 3.5 days left for you to register!
