Still waiting for that rail spur in Trenton, GA ;). In all seriousness, rail volume between Savannah and Atlanta has risen 38% yoy. While Savannah to Memphis volume has risen 16% during the same period. Great for the great state of Georgia! A fragmentation that I have seen in port to rail is container visibility especially if you are an importer using a foreign freight forwarder. Steam has a couple of solutions to give you full range visibility between that port to rail piece. While turnaround time on the EC is relatively quick, we are already starting to see port to rail days add up on the WC. Rail freight involves the use of railroads and trains to transport cargo via land. It can be used for entire an journey, or to drop goods along the route, where possible. LA port terminal getting $52 million for on-dock rail - The U.S. container port race is expanding by rail. The Los Angeles Harbor Commission approved a $52 million plan to enhance rail capacity at Pier 300, the port's second-largest terminal, owned by CMA CGM. Construction begins in 2025, adding five tracks to boost efficiency and sustainability. The improvements aim to handle over 1 million annual lifts, reducing cargo transfers and improving operations. A temporary increase in freight trains to be operated on a rail line in eastern #France has triggered anger among local residents and led to one mayor taking legal action, albeit unsuccessfully.
