The 🚘. If we in the audio/radio industry can’t keep engaging people there, we are in serious trouble. It’s also very detrimental to citizen’s needs of smooth access to news and sevice information.
Therefore, it’s so important that we as PSM - within the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) - have laid out a common Playbook, a clear roadmap for how we see trustworthy audio/radio content being distributed in the future. The initiative is spearheaded by tomas granryd from SR, which makes us immensely proud.
Sveriges Radio already provides our app and CarPlay users with a 15 minute-long, updating automatic mix of the most important local traffic, national news, local news and sports before the listener is seamlessly carried over to the live linear channel they prefer. We see loads of AI potential here going forward, more automated, personalised offerings, new conversarional search using voice etc. The audio future in the connected car looks bright, judging from all the possibilities.
🚗 📻 We're racing to safeguard radio's relevance in the era of the connected car.
How? Our Connected Car Playbook was introduced at today's #MediaSummit with presentations by Cilla Benkö; tomas granryd, Mirko Stular and Tanja Huether, and is a collaboration with EBU Members, including Sveriges Radio; ARD; BBC; and Radio France.
This is a united call to action for how radio can - and should - be easy to find in cars.
We want to mobilize the radio community to engage with the motor industry and secure their commitment. And, with radio being the most listened-to form of entertainment in most European countries, we're ready to work with the automotive industry to give audiences - their customers - what they want.
